THANK YOU SO MUCH everyone! I''m in Love with the ring and I really love the crispness of D color. My previous stones were H and I, so difference is huge!!
I guess I''ll see how I like the setting as is for a few days and see if I like to keep it this way for a while. Does anyone know if the LM''s pave are pretty durable? I wonder if the melee stones may fall off pretty easily, and I don''t want to send the ring back and forth to him everytime that happens.....

Yes they are durable, especially if you go with 1.8mm+ in shank width. If you use a very competent setting (LM certainly qualifies) and melee diamonds at least 0.8 pointers I don''t see a serious problem with melee falling out.
I regularly ultrasonic and steam my wife''s pave ring without a problem along with many other familiy members'' pieces.

I think that stone is absolutely magnificant and I think it was a bold move for rhino to accept the risk of such an expensive piece into his inventory. I am pleased for you and for him that it worked out so well as that is truly one of the most fantastic antique cushions I have ever seen.

I think you have fantastic taste and a Leon Mege basket setting no matter what you choose will look gorgeous, take your time and see how you feel about wearing the current setting.

Wow, what a special diamond.
I love the AVCs.

I wouldn''t do anything right now - if you like it as is I''d leave it! You can ALWAYS go do something with it down the road like in a year or whatever... when the time is right you''ll know it and you won''t have to get anyone''s opinion :) Wear it like this until you are tired of it and then get a change! voila! Enjoy - it''s beautiful :)

BTW, I''m planning on insuring the stone through Jewelers Mutual.
What amount am I supposed to declare as Retail Replacement Value? Should I declare the price I paid, or the price being appraised? GOG send me a copy of their appraisal and the appraisal amount is about $20K more than what I paid................

ChunkyCushionLover,

Thank you for your response regarding the LM''s pave durability. It''s good to hear they are durable, I REALLY love the pave work of LM and leaning towards getting the pave setting now before I get too attached to the stone........7 weeks of being away from this spectacular stone is tough, but if I do it now, I can have it done and be done with........

It''s gorgeous!!!!! Congrats on a stunning ring!!!

wintotty,

Jewelers Mutual views each appraisal as the jewelry professional’s opinion on a given date. If you feel that the value of your item may be overstated, we suggest that you have another jewelry professional review/appraise the item to get a second opinion on the value.
I hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply about insurance. When I did the insurance calculator through JM, my premium was $1800/year, which is a lot of money to insure the diamond. I talked to Nationwide, which is my home and auto insurer. First they declined to insure the ring with that appraisal amount (don''t know why, appraisal amount is not "that" bad). Then they called back and agreed on insuring my ring for $1100/year, so I went with it. I was thinking about insuring my other jewelry (VCA and Cartier), but decided not to considering the premiums I have to be paying....

Your ring is very beautiful as a solitaire... so beautiful that I think that I have changed my mind on a setting for my recent diamond purchase; solitaire it is.

Wow! Congratulations and may it bring you many smiles.

Oh my goodness your stone is a beauty!!!

I wouldn''t change a thing - the plain solitaire shows it off so well
