THANK YOU!! I got the August Vintage Cushion today!!!!!!

First of all I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who gave me advice on choosing the diamond. I went back and forth of what shape I wanted but at the end, went back to what I wanted from the beginning of my upgrade stone search........Vintage Cushion, well August Vintage Cushion to be exact!! Everyone at the GOG was wonderful and very helpful, can''t be happier with the stone or their services! I had the stone set in the simple 4 prongs setting since I haven''t decided what setting I want. To my surprise, I really like the simplicity of the solitaire setting, it''s very clean and classy!! But having a Leon Mege setting has been my dream and even though I''ve never seen his work in person, I''m sure it will be spectacular and special. So here goes my dilemma.....should I leave as is or get the Leon Mege''s pave band.......or his Halo setting? What would you do???????

That Leon would be spectacular, it's one of my favorites. If you did decide on a plain solitare I like Leon's basket work a bit better than the straight lines of the Vatche. But no halo. Your stone stands out on its own.

The stone is beautiful and AVC has become my favorite cut of all time. Those chunky facets are to die for!

I would just leave it as is for now and enjoy its beauty...then when you get more "use" to it and maybe feeling some DSS, I would
upgrade to the leon setting.

Not yet. Still looking. It's hard to find the right cushion, and I am happy when someone does! My problem is that I want something that faces up like a 4ct, but there are no good OMC's above a 3.5 (right now, at least).

Wintotty - what ring size are you??? That ring looks divine on you!!!

Your diamond is just gorgeous!! I agree with everyone else that the simplicity of your current setting is perfect. On the other hand I could also see pairing your wonderful diamond with the perfect Leon setting.

I vote for the more modern look of the current setting. WHy not wear it for a while and see how you feel a few months later. If you still desire the LM setting you have your lifetime to change to it!

jgny, the ring size is 6, I think my finger size I think is 5 1/2 since the ring is kind of loose.
I know what you mean by the size, I wanted something bigger, but I didn''t want to go low on color and I def wanted August Vintage Cushion.
I asked Jonathan the possibility of getting more bigger (3.5 plus) AVC, he said not likely because the rough being pretty expensive right now.
So, I thought well this stone has lifetime guarantee, so when GOG gets bigger stones in, I can always upgrade! ( which is what Jonathan suggested too! LOL!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH everyone! I''m in Love with the ring and I really love the crispness of D color. My previous stones were H and I, so difference is huge!!
I guess I''ll see how I like the setting as is for a few days and see if I like to keep it this way for a while. Does anyone know if the LM''s pave are pretty durable? I wonder if the melee stones may fall off pretty easily, and I don''t want to send the ring back and forth to him everytime that happens.....

Ha - sounds like you and I had similar conversations with Jon. I was looking for a bigger AVC, and really thought about the one you got. But given the drama I have been through I wanted my next purchase to be my forever ring, so I passed. It looks so, so lovely on you! I am a sz 5, and your finger size looked close to mine. Congrats again!!!
