I'm still trying to learn the basics of how to text. :nono::nono::nono:

When composing a text, how do you to start a new paragraph without sending the first paragraph?

When I hit the enter button (as you would on a keyboard to start a new paragraph, the iPhone sends the text, instead of starting a new paragraph.
GRRRR.:angryfire:
And how in the F does APPLE itself teach us this instead of having to look it up after paying a zillion bucks for their stoopidphones?

Help please

I hate typing with my thumbs, and have a Mac as well as an iPhone. So I type out anything longish in, say, the Notes app with my keyboard, copy, and paste into the iMessage on the computer. It may take a little longer but has fewer errors and much less frustration.

For a paragraph, double tap the "return" square at the bottom right of your screen.

Then teach me how to upload photos lol. No matter how many kind PSers try to teach me, I can't make it work.

I learned to type on a real typewriter, many many years ago! Thumbs don’t do it for me either. I do something similar.

@kenny Press the ‘return’ to change lines or start a new paragraph.

I agree! If I have to type something long on my phone, sometimes I type it on my desktop computer, copy and paste it into my email and send it to myself. Then I open the email on my phone and copy and paste it into my text and then send it!
We are old I think !

I’ve found speech-to-text to be very helpful, though I only use it when I’m alone - LOL. Just say what you want to convey, and don’t forget to include the punctuation. Some of the punctuation might need cleaning up (parenthesis and quotation marks, for example) but even so it can be a time saver, and pretty easy once you get used to it.

The return button gives you a new paragraph.
The blue arrow sends the text.

A friend of mine took a class at the Apple store when she got a new phone. I'm pretty sure it was free.

You can skip the email part if you want to. Just copy the text from the document you typed and paste it directly into the message.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.
If it works that would be the perfect answer to my question!!!!!!!!!

If that doesn’t work then we need need to figure out why. So long as you’re using an iPhone it should.

I'm not sure if that's what Matata meant, but if you also use a mac, the native Messages app is the same as your phone, and synced. So you could paste the text into the relevant chat. I think someone mentioned that up thread. Not sure if you can get the Apple Messages app for non-Mac laptops.

If you use WhatsApp instead of the Messages app, then you can use the native laptop WhatsApp app or WhatsApp Web in your browser. This is operating system agnostic.

It's an iPhone SE3, apple's cheapest just over a year ago, if you can call $500 cheap. :knockout:

I also text on my iMac 24" (but it's against the law to call it texting.
apple insists it's "messaging"! :roll::roll::roll:
But it's also nice to be able to do multiple paragraphs on the phone.

I don't do phone apps like WhatsApp, or any Apps.
My iPhone is still an App virgin. :saint:

I don't sync any of my apple devices, iMac, MacBook Air, iPad Air and SE3 iPhone.
I'm also not on the cloud at all.
No thanks.

Everything that can be turned off on my phone is turned off ...... and it took forever to find everything. :angryfire:
But then if you download apple's so-called software upgrades that means doing all that over from scratch.

Personal information stealing is a massive racket.

Happy dinosaur here.

Oh ok. No I have a windows desktop and don’t use WhatsApp. Thanks for the clarification.

@kenny the screen shot I sent will work for an SE3. It has a return key and a blue arrow.
