Okay, please tell me if I'm totally crazy.

Would a Tacori 2620 for a round stone that's about a half carat work for my approximately half a carat square radiant?

The measurements of the current stone are approximately 5.1mm. My square radiant is about 4.75mm, so very slightly smaller. It's basically perfectly square. The 2620 has a halo with a cushion shaped outline for a round stone, with double prongs on each corner. I realize more of the halo would show, which would be fine.

For reference, this is the setting: http://www.tacori.com/2620rdsm

They do make the setting for a princess or asscher cut, but it appears that the cushion outline on the version for a round stone then becomes more square, which I don't care for as much as the version for rounds that results in a cushiony halo. You can see photos of the different version at Since 1910: http://www.since1910.com/tacori-2620rd-engagement-ring-with-pave-set-diamonds

I would say no. I think only a round or rounded cushion would look right in that setting.

Really? Is that because the setting isn't made for the shape, or just because you don't like the look of a radiant in that setting?

I found this image on another board (don't think I can link to it per PS policy so will just post the face-on photo) but it's an elongated radiant in the setting, and I think it looks pretty good.
