Hi,
I am playing with a pair of new to me ruby earrings and looking at the ruby. From what I can gather, these strong growth lines are indicative of flam grown rubies. Does this look/sound correct? They glow under UV.

Thanks :)

:) thanks Miss Daisy.

For the record, it;s too late to amend, but that should have read flame grown, not flam. Ha.

Ah i don't even notice typos
Btw its high compliment from me because i don't do red !
But im quite taken by this shade
Its reminding me of something i can't put my finger on
i think its because it's lolly (sweet/ candy) red

It does look like a nice cherry lollipop :) I think I like it for that reason too.

I think what you are seeing are polish marks from using a rather coarse grit polish. Looks like an 8000 or maybe a 3000 grit polish was used as the final polish, so you are seeing the small scratches or polish marks from the coarse grit.

In Flame Fusion material the marks you are referring to are curved striae, and these are really hard to find in most material produced in the past 20 years.

Thanks, I am always curious about identifying materials. You're correct, I thought these were striae marks. Thanks for the help.
