Super thin, narrow bands w/ 2ct stones?

Hi, I'm in the very complex process of looking for the right ring for my to-be. She is quite picky and we haven't been able to find something that suits her quite yet. Seems that she is looking for something extremely thin, but with a 2ct+ rb in it. Either a solitaire or a micropave would be something I think she would love.

Ideally we are looking at 1.5mm or less. My concern here is what the band looks like from a side profile. With the large diamond in it, I'm concerned that the shank will look odd and so protruded from the finger. Does anyone have an image to share to help allay this concern? Would be extremely helpful. :)

I would consider the durability and safety of such a setting for daily wear. Of course everyone is different, and there are some people who really baby their settings, and it may be just fine. If the wearer is not ultra careful, maybe you should reconsider.

Look up Leon Mege here, and you will find many bobble head style rings. His shanks are really thin. No offense at all. I love the look myself and almost got one. I think they are gorgeous. I only refer to them as such because of the seeming disproportionality of such a ring. Personally, it think its a fabulous look.

Steven Kirsch and Victor Canera's are a bit thicker, closer to 2mm and above.

LLSJsmom, thanks for the commentary. I have been explaining much the same, but if you know women, sometimes you can't convince them of these things. :)

Beautiful ring cflutist. I think that looks very nice. Do you have a shot of the side profile at all?

Crystal thank you for the link I will take a look.

Pending her finger size I wouldn't go down to 1.5mm. I have a 1.9mm with my 2.04ct and I feel it is perfect. My only 1.6mm warped on me.

I wouldn't consider less than 1.8mm. People do not realize that rings will likely have problems thinner than that. You can do it, but you'll likely end up having to replace the rings. Worst case, she might lose the diamond.

I wouldn't go much below 2 mm. My diamond is 1.5 carat and my band is about 2.5 mm and something I think it's too narrow.
