Stone suggestions for this setting

Okay. Let us know if you need more input. :wavey:

Gosh, we hear all the time, "she will love anything i choose." and YES, that is most likely true! when i got engaged my now hubby picked out my ring by himself, i had no idea he was thinking of proposing so i had not given him any guidance. Based on my quirky personality, he bought a marquise stone in a bypass type of setting. i loved it, yes because HE picked it and i was very proud that he chose something that was different, i didn't want something that everyone else has. Anyway, i loved the sentiment of it, yes... but it was not something i would pick out, i didn't love the bulkiness of the setting and the fragility of the baugettes in it. We casually discussed upgrading my stone and setting for one of our anniversaries and i expressed to him my love of EW set marquise settings. he surprised me again and on our 15th anniversary he presented me with a custom EW marquise setting inspired by a setting i had on my Pinterest page.

I cherished my original e-ring because of the sentiment... it came from him, he thought a lot about it when he went shopping for it even though he was off the mark. However, i ADORE my new ring. He stalked my Pinterest page, took the setting to a jeweler, went through the process finding the perfect stone and worked with the jeweler on minor details of the ring. i LOVE my new ring and i love that he worked so hard to make sure it is something that i absolutely adore and am so proud to show off.

i guess the moral of my story is... try to get it right the first time. Don't guess! Don't think that she will love whatever. She probably would but don't you want her to be OVER THE MOON?! she is going to wear this ring for a LONG TIME. Most women have a very strong idea of what they want their engagement ring to look like and would love to tell their friends, "isn't it amazing? It is exactly what i wanted, can you believe what he did to make sure he got me exactly what i wanted?!" do some sleuthing here!

I hope you find a stone you love soon - that setting is so gorgeous!

Went with the very first diamond suggested in this thread (thank you Rockysalamander). Erica was flexible with me, helping me stay at my budget. I chose the following setting:

I actually showed my girlfriend the exact setting (I said the company's ads kept popping up on my FB page -- not true), and asked her thoughts. She said it was exactly what she would want if we weren't using her current grandfather's ring as the e-ring. We are going to go try on wedding bands this weekend, so I can get a feel for her preference in gold colors. Last choice will be whether or not to use milgrain on the bezel, which she stated she likes (but not necessarily more/less than the plain bezel).

Appreciate all of the feedback in this thread.

I'm so excited. That 1.78 from LAD is really OEC perfection. The Kozibe effect will be so cool for her.

In addition to metal color and milgrain...see how she feels about shiny or not shiny metal and engraving. That will inform the metal choice.

This compares both metal color (vertically) and shiny vs. matte finish (left/right).
