Stephen Kotlowski was not only an amazing cutter but also a mentor and guide to many in the faceting world. He shaped gems and minds, bringing out the beauty in both.

I was stunned when I heard the news. My first thought is for his daughter whom he seemed to cherish. I take it it was sudden and unexpected as his passing has seemed to catch the world off guard.

I am so heartbroken for his family, be that by blood or by gem. The world is a a less colorful place now.

I am not aware what the cause of death was but he was posting new gem pictures on the 17th. I feel for his family.
