Starter Superideals

I could totally give that a loving home. ;-) Wink’s videos make me feel like I’m getting a spa facial!

I am used to an F oval, so I have always seen white white white from the side. And with the larger side facets, I have always loved the side view ice cube look. I know that I will end up in the F/G range when I near the end of upgrading, but I would love to enjoy many colors and clarity levels along the way! Speaking of clarity, I have an SI1, and it just doesn’t bug me. I’m thankful for that. ;)2

Well, here she is! The original ering setting. It held a 1 carat oval until it couldn’t hold it anymore, and the diamond actually fell out one night! My daughter (10 at the time), found it. Here is that story:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/early-anniversary-reset-1-carat-oval-with-pave.204946/

It has been sitting in my jewelry box ever since. I have been waiting on finding the perfect parti-colored sapphire that reminds me of family vacation sunsets. But @diamondseeker2006 ‘s post last week got me thinking that I should consider using it
for my entry-level superideal. It’s in need of some TLC, but with a professional polish and a new head, I bet she’d look pretty nice with a new life!

I took pics with a small tanzanite pendant and a larger aqua pendant balanced necklace in there just to give the general idea. DH picked the setting—he loves curvy lines in jewelry. The promise ring he gave me was very similar. :) It’s platinum with a little wisp on each side of 18k yellow gold. You can probably see the warmth coming through in those “lines.” I plated it, but considering returning the yellow gold wisps with this restoration, perhaps?

I plan to wear this as a RHR until the big upgrade in 2020 for our 20th anniversary. I will keep the original oval in the setting that is linked up there!

Update on the diamond I didn’t buy. I officially have enough for one of these, but I’m going to keep saving for a bit longer!

This was originally slated as a “I’ll buy my own damn diamonds” purchase, but DH is getting interested in superideals and this may turn into a Christmas diamond, after all. ;)2

To be continued!

Can’t wait to see what you finally get!

I guess I’m thinking that I will get this starter superideal, then trade up toward an anniversary ring/alternate ering at some point in the future as a gift from DH. This small one will be purchased with my “mad money” I make as a contractor at my job. I recently said I’d take on extra work and DH agreed it should go into a jewelry-only slush fund. :) We have always dumped all of our money into one pot, but I like having this additional buying power! I used the first bit of it for my Cartier trinity back in May. Then I surprised DH with a new bike two weeks ago. :)

I don’t have a bracelet or a pendant, so they are at the top of my list. I did have a nice .30 pendant, but my daughter has taken it as a loan for now!

Just a little update—
I am seeing so many CBIs get put on hold and disappear from the website—very exciting! DH got on board with my little side project and said, “why don’t I put in some extra, then pick it out for you?” :D Sure, okay! I emailed him some ideas of what I liked for settings (including the idea of rehabbing the original ering), and let him take it from there. He actually didn’t like the idea of using the old setting.

So all I know is that money was wired, and some prime suspects are no longer listed on the HPD website

So this starter diamond will be an 18th anniversary gift with the intention of trading up toward a larger 20th “”forever” diamond in two years.

That’s great news :)) ideal cut stones are def beautiful and there is something special about them :))) what size are you aming for ?

@Golden_bird - 1.3-1.4 for the 20th? Or bigger, depending on my color tolerance. :) I’m used to an F ering, but I wore my friend’s J recently and I was not bothered by the side tint. That helps! ;)2

Happy 18th anniversary to meeeeee!! It’s here! I am having so much fun with the different lighting environments. :appl:

0.80 H VVS2 CBI from HPD!

I will make its own thread tomorrow when I have more time. Setting is Stuller 10K rose gold (intended to be set with a CS for my 10-year-old next year when I trade up!).

I am used to my F colored oval. This is an H, but I do understand now about the “disco ball” effect of a superideal, and CBI specifically.

More tomorrow!!

Congratulations!!!:)) it looks awesome on you ,but the bigger stone sparkle is your happy and excited face !!! Diamond are girls best friends ,they make cloudy day sunny :))))

Gorgeous!! The rose gold setting is beautiful (my fav metal!) and I love the fire you captured in one of your photos. Congratulations!

Gorgeous, don't you just love those rainbow colors.

I keep coming back to drool at these pics! So happy for you!!!!

I’ve always gotten Ideal cut stones but my first “super ideals” were these which I put in a bangle.

12A8739D-D736-4A94-B003-59BC92BEB13B.jpeg

I love that style bracelet! In my unboxing pic up there, you can see a (fake) pearl open bangle that I’m wearing, just to see if the style is livable on my right hand. I write with a pen a lot for my job, and I’m surprised at how well-fitted bangle works! If I end up getting a bangle next year, it will be diamond or sapphire — or one of each!

The nice thing about a ring and a bracelet is that we get to stare at our pretty diamonds all day.

Just to update this thread—I changed out the H for an F soon after the anniversary, and here is a picture I was able to get this morning. The H also performed in this way (craaaazy rainbow arrows!). It just makes me so happy when it does this. Saving for 1.2-1.3ish for 2019!:appl:

Sooooo gorgeous. :love::love:

I love it!

Hi guys,

I’m excited to report that I’m in the market for my own starter super ideal! I have a few questions that I was hoping you could help me with.

I’m still not sure whether to go ACA or CBI. Are the upgrade policies the same? I want the flexibility of upgrading multiple times and no minimum upgrade amount. I’m leaning ACA right now mainly because their selection seems better, but still unsure.

I’m targeting a K, eye-clean SI. I saw a couple SI2 CBIs available, but WF doesn’t seem to go lower than SI1. Is that right? Would either custom cut a K SI2? And would the upgrade policy still apply to that diamond?

Thanks everyone, appreciate your wealth of knowledge!

Upgrade policies will apply to any diamond Crafted by Infinity. With that said, SI has become a quality challenge for producers with high standards. This is due to grade creep over time. What used to be ‘high SI1’ is now getting called VS by GIA and other labs. The miners know this and raised the price of high quality SI2-SI1 rough so it now sells at VS2 pricing.

Meanwhile Crafted by Infinity has not changed their standards for SI diamonds. Grade creep has made it harder and harder for them to buy rough at an SI price that’s completely transparent, with no underlying issues of haze, tint, etc. and that will finish eye-clean. The CBI team now rejects over 100 diamonds for every SI diamond they will go forward with. There is an eye-opening article by Paul Slegers detailing this. Over time the number of SI2 diamonds they find acceptable for crafting has dropped to less than 3% of their total output. The good news is those may be the most rigorously vetted SI2 diamonds on the planet. The bad news is that it’s impractical to request an SI2 target in their Crafted to Order program.

However after it has been Crafted to Order, yes, any new diamond will have the same buy back and trade up guarantees as every other Crafted by Infinity diamond.

Similar to what Wink has stated with regard to custom cutting, because Si2 is such a wide category, we normally do not entertain custom cuts for Si2.

Our mission is to have the deepest and broadest inventory of desirable size/color/clarity combination ideal and super ideal diamonds in stock and under one roof. We generally have ample inventories of Si1 clarity in our A CUT ABOVE brand, meeting all specifications and qualifications for the brand including the rigorous vetting of clarity based issues that might negatively impact light performance.

All Whiteflash in-house diamonds come with our 100% lifetime trade-up benefit.

Hi KristinTech, I love your CBI and what a pretty setting! Have you posted specs for your F? It looks like a tiny table, have you noticed a lot of fire from either of your CBIs? I’m wondering if a certain proportion of CBI does in fact make for a fierier diamond. Thank you for sharing all these beautiful photos, and wear your ring in good health.

@LightBright Aside from studs (that I don’t analyze in the same way, being on the ears), I have never had a MRB. This ring is full of fire! And yes, the H also was, but I only had that one for about two weeks. There is a “future” F SI2 (1.2ish) that I’m eyeing. :Up_to_something2:

I inquired about it this morning. :halo:
Yay!!!!

I'm actually in the process of upgrading the color in my K. The K has turned out to have too much warmth for me :-(
