Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

Antiques (over 100 years old) don’t have duty imposed. Books either!

That used to be the case but some buyers are getting now zinged unfortunately.

Shippers are even charging $150 “Holding Fees” even if duties are paid within 24 hours.

Wait… what? Like no tariffs on 100+ yr old antiques now?!?

Edit: got too excited, but it also makes me want to challenge this theory with something old

That used to be the case!

I should have said reasonable "starting" price.

Just en FYI in general - the $800 exemption threshold was removed altogether when the Tariffs were imposed. Everything is now subject to whatever tariffs are currently being imposed for the country you are purchasing from.

I’m going to guess french cut, but 40’s-50’s? since they look like they are more flat frenchies vs older chunky tall crown frenchies… but don’t hold me to it

I thought they might be french cuts but I wasn't entirely sure whether they were that or carre.

I was going to say that they MAY be French cuts, but could also be princess cuts. They don't look like Carre to me. If French, then that's a very good price. Since they allow returns, it might be worth ordering if you're a size 5. I'm not.

I agree. They look more like princess cuts to me but it’s hard to tell given the fabulous photos :-(

This will be swiped by a vendor. Or it will be swiped.
Price for this is exceptional imo. French Platinum Art Deco. Exceptional all around.

Six months later I’m still pining for this. How unusual is this style? I realize I might not find it for a good price, but could I find it or something like it one day?

And if anyone saved pics of it… please share so I can pine for it more specifically lol

How was the clarity? It says SI1 or SI2. What do you think?

Oh, I wish I could say! Yes, maybe? I didn't see any obvious chips or black inclusions?? I'm so far from knowing anything besides, " I think this is pretty," or not lol :) I liked the shape, the crown, the color, and the facet pattern upon magnification. I don't think it was super contrasty at normal viewing but I don't remember it being dull at all.

I see it is on hold right now but the discount has gone back to just 20% off vs the 25% off when I posted yesterday. Weird. They are watching us, apparently! o_O

I was thinking I might buy it to build a 5 stone or 7 stone at some point. (My left ring finger is size 8.25 and my right is 8.75 so gotta size up on the carats for full coverage ;). Or use it as sides in a 3 stone. But didn't feel the pull strong enough to start on something like that. But I definitely reconsidered when I saw it was 25% off!

I am inclined to think princess cuts or another princess-like cut, rather than french cuts.

This one is back and marked down 25% now. It was purchased and returned again, after I did. I liked it but don't need.

sadly appears to be on the forever hold or I'd snap it up at this price. looking for something for a toi et moi

Yup, I thought I would be exempt. I bought a 150 year-old bracelet from the uk and had to pay ups a tariff fee:x2. I was hoping since it was over 100 years old that the tariffs wouldn’t apply, but they did.

If anyone is in the UK or EU, this is another old cut double band I was looking at, but I didn't want to deal with the tariff mess to import to the US. Size 8.5, platinum & 18k.

This was purchased and returned. Now it is back, but on hold. The setting is gorgeous but the stones are mostly included. Probably not worth it, but still fun eye candy.

I bought it and returned it a while ago. I *think* it was bought and returned again. This pic is an accurate portrayal of the emerald.

Thank you for sharing your experience! How did you find the seriousness of the inclusions in the diamonds? Were they still pretty, or are the inclusions quite distracting?
