Here''s my collection of gems cut by Barry. I will first post the picture from Barry followed by pictures taken by me. The first one is a 5.46ct round Namibian blue green tourmaline that he cut 10 years ago. The pictures don''t do the actual stone justice.
These are my pictures. I think my fingers had some lint or little pieces of cotton wool on it and it shows up on the tourmaline. The tourmaline is very clean and the bits you see are not inclusions.
Next up is a 2.62ct cushion cut Mozambique greenish blue tourmaline. There''s some grey in real life and apparently if you heat this stone, you can get an electric green colour out of it.
This tourmaline is really hard to photograph. The ends keep coming out looking very dark. In real life, it is a little darker than the centre, the c-axis is not closed. The bits you see are the bits of cotton wool on my fingers, the stone itself has little or no inclusions.
