So, I decided to take the plunge and go with a BGD Blue stone that is I color with strong blue fluo.
Here is a link to the stone: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.353-i-vs1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104063219005
Given that the center stone will be I color (at least in certain light) but may be whiter in other types of light, does it make sense to avoid pave or any other settings that include melee since the melee may look whiter or more yellow than the center diamond depending on light? Or for micro pave will it the melee color be less noticeable?
My girlfriend has petite hands and has mentioned that she doesn't like settings that look big on her hand. So, I'm trying to stay with settings that have fairly narrow bands. She also seemed to have a preference for 6-prong settings over 4-prong when we were in the jewelry store.
I'm leaning toward going with the tapered Tiffany-style half round solitaire since it is 1.9mm wide on top: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/tapered-tiffany-style-half-round-platinum-5540p
However, some of the micropaves look like they are similarly thin (though BGD's thin micropaves all seem to be 4-prong).

Since I saved money by dropping down to I color and going with BGD Blue instead of BGD Signature, I'm not worried about the difference in cost for the micropave vs. the solitaires. I just want something that will complement the primary stone and not overwhelm her tiny hands....
Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.
