Yes, these are my pictures, vendor has a good return policy, I figure I will ask for the report if I like the color. As stated earlier, heated (and to what extent) can mean a multitude of things to a ruby, drastically affecting price.
I don't believe all heat residue is equal to glass filling.
I like the color.
For 600/ct, I wouldn't want more than mild residues and very little surface reaching fractures that I can see readily with my naked eye, and for sure over 2carats, and transparent not translucent.
The lab report would be crucial. And what lab. And that they defined the level of heat/flux residue.
Edit-
Are these your pictures? I'm confused - you bought but didn't get to see the lab report that it has?
@MissyBeaucoup yes, I really love the color in person. I didn’t know what to expect with a cab, but I really love how glowy and vibrant it is. I do not mind the heat treatment at all. Thanks for pointing me to the fluorescence tread. I am going to order a UV light...I really like the color and I’m fond of pinkish rubies. It looks beautiful on you! It sounds like you like it well enough to check on any treatment that might affect its durability. I wouldn’t worry about heat if that is the only treatment. I also enjoy looking at inclusions with a Loupe. You can find an inexpensive one that has a UV light on it. I found one on Etsy at FDJtools.
Let us know what you decide and what you find out!![]()
Thanks for all your help. I pulled the trigger on this one, it is confirmed with low heat treatment only and I am thrilled to finally own a “ruby”!
That's sweet of you, about the two dogs. Why a hand carved solitaire in particular? Is it going to have an organic special design? Are you setting it with Yvonne or someone else?Ruby was the name of my first dog, well she’s my DHs first “darling”, Brick is Ruby’s son and I adopted both of them when my DH moves in with me. It funny but my PS name is so not bling related!
It will be set in a hand carved solitaire. The setting cost is actually what I struggled with the most!![]()
Yes an organic setting to compliment the cab. This will only be my 3rd ring, well not counting my impulse buy FY marquise which will be reset when more funds are available. I would love to work with Yvonne on a ring down the road. I like the rosette style but I am not sure if I am comfortable wearing such showy rings! That's sweet of you, about the two dogs.
