So as it turns out...maybe...NOT a heart attack?

@mrs-b my search for "hot australian guy on an elephant" sadly yielded no results, but I found pics of Elephant Rocks in Australia, a beautiful place:

But, I feel like I owe you a hot Australian guy , so here's an Aussie firefighter with a koala:

I hope one (or both!) of these pics makes you smile.
I wish you a speedy diagnosis and recovery!

He looks like a super ideal cut to me, is the koala included? ;)

Here I am in hospital this afternoon - best day I've had, pain-wise. It wasn't as heavy, didn't last as long, and I recuperated more quickly. The tests they're running won't be back for a few days, so my attending cardiologist said I could go home for a few days till they work out how to proceed. Am now also seeing rheumatologists, who are checking me out for large vessel vasculitis, and they need an ultrasound of my temporal artery to make sure I "Don't go blind over the weekend while you're at home." (well, cheers to that!) But assuming that goes well, I'll leave tomorrow, probably in the afternoon.

I'll have to come back; the more time that goes by, the more this is looking like something surgical - but we'll see. In the meantime I'm taking home basically a pharmacy to manage my symptoms during the adrenalin/pain surges, so I'm hoping all will be well.

And here I am, just off the phone with my cardiologist, pretty damn pleased about leaving!! Fingers crossed the ultrasound goes well. And that I don't...er...go blind...over the weekend. Seriously, I know they're trying, but a few social skills wouldn't hurt, y'know?

It is awesome that you are going home! I don't like them scaring you, though. Prayers continue.

praying you get to go home tomorrow and get some answers.

@mrs-b So nice to get an update just before I'm off to bed! .......And how is it you can look so glamorous with everything you have been through?
I would look like a hot mess! :loopy:
Take care, check in with us tomorrow. Remember are lots of people holding you in their thoughts!
I hope I didn't too much anxiety checking in with you about what the medics are doing?

Not at all, @Niffler - very useful post and I appreciated it a lot.

And frankly, I'd kill for some jewelry and makeup!

Sleep well. :))

Glad you’ll be home soon and able to rest while they figure things out.

I had to look twice to see the koala. Lol

FX for continual management of symptoms and a quick recoverable diagnosis, it's always better at home than in the hospital, that's for sure!

@mrs-b - I am just catching up now. I am not on PS as much anymore. I am so sorry you are going through all this. I hope you get a diagnosis and treatment plan soon.

Are they sending you home with prednisone just in case it is temporal arteritis, if this is what they are suspecting? Or will prednisone make everything else worse?

Here’s a picture of my heritage peonies that were in full bloom on my birthday last June. They were originally planted by my grandmother many years before I was born. From one plant they have been split, shared, nurtured by my sister-in-law while our house was being built. They have been split again and some plants given to a friend with a young family to carry on the legacy. These peonies are one of my most prized possessions.4192FB4F-60ED-4A31-8AA1-8653CBCB4628.jpeg

There is no place like home! Just to be in your own surroundings with your own things makes anything a bit more manageable. So glad they are not making you wait out your test results in the hospital. Take care and please do keep us posted - we will be thinking of you!!

Relieved to hear you are fending the pain off better and especially that you are going home! There simply is no place like home. Many warm wishes for healthier days to come.
My picture for you is of the Hudson River because I know you once lived here in the Hudson Valley.

I just have to get through tonight / tomorrow morning without an unmanageable flare. And I need the temporal artery ultrasound to be ok. If that happens, I'm a lock to go home - at least for a few days. if nothing else, it will give my poor arms a chance to explore a color other than purple before I have to come back for whatever procedures they require next week.

These photos are the better view. My poor hands and wrists are like the remains of a land mine.

You look so good in the hospital! I looked a mess. My stomach looks like your arms because I have to take heparin shots in my belly.

I hope whatever they find is treatable.

@mrs-b, I hope you are able to go home soon. Continuing to send lots of good wishes and hopefully the doctors can soon figure out what is happening and it's treatable. I'm sorry you are going through this ordeal.

prayers outgoing that you get to go home and they find the problem and its an easy fix.

Oh your poor arms!! Fingers and toes crossed that you get to be home with your loving hubby ASAP. Thinking of you constantly!

Here is my 4 year old blowing you a get well kiss.

What a doll!

We are pulling for you!

You look great and I'm glad to hear you're getting to go home! :appl: I hope they find out what the heck is going on.

Slightly more promising news for me to read this morning, and may it continue & you are able to go home whilst they figure this out & make a plan.

And wow, you look sexy as!!
Apart from your poor arms & hands, obviously. Those bits look like they've had a little car crash...

More healing dust & hugs!

Hi @mrs-b Just checking in.
Here is a photo of Whitby in the UK, one of my absolute fave places. I lived here for 5 years. It's a beautiful coastal town with lots of history, cobbled streets, quirky shops and great fossil hunting on the beach!

Looking beautiful @mrs-b and I hope today you receive much needed happy news and can go home to your DH. Sending you continued well wishes and gentle hugs.

And since I hear there may be snow in the forecast leaving you with a blast from the past...

@Niffler!! I know Whitby! I've visited and stayed there when I lived in England. And it's a HUGELY personal place for me. I'm not sure if you know that Whitby is the port from which James Cook departed on his voyage to 'discover' Australia.

When I was in England, I was very, very homesick. When we visited Whitby, I remember standing on the cliffs and looking out to sea, and wishing that I, like Cook, could voyage to Australia and rediscover my homeland.

So 2 years ago, when I changed my first and middle names (yes - that happened, but that's another story) - I legally took Whitby as my middle name, because for so much of my life I have felt as tho, both externally and internally, I've been on a voyage to find my way home. And it also represents an acknowledgment of my Australian heritage and who I truly am. So - the cat is now out of the bag; my legal first and middle names are Hollian Whitby.

And now I feel as tho I should be asking you if you'd like to be my new best friend! :))

And btw, Whitby had the best spotted dick I've ever had. It's also where my husband took his best ever photo. He stood on the cliff/headland where the cemetery and desolate church ruins are, and the shot is taken through the expanse of tombstones, down to the bustling town beneath. It was a bleak day with black clouds overhead, the cold ocean in the background, and in the middle, the town, filled with people living in either defiance or ignorance of what was clearly ahead. Awesome photo.
