Hi everyone-

I probably should know this, but I'm wondering if it is possible to put a smaller (6.3-6.4mm) stone in a setting intended for a 7mm stone. I have an old setting that I thought about doing something with, but I'm not sure what. This is the picture from Whiteflash if it helps: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/6-prong-tiffany-style-diamond-solitaire-584.htm

I know it's not super expensive or elaborate, but it is sentimental and I don't want to sell it.

Thanks!
SK

If it from WF? They might be the best people to ask. If you can't would it ruin the sentiment to replace the head with one to fit the smaller stone? It is not pricey.

Ditto on Dreamer.

It shouldn't be an issue, especially on a simple solitaire setting. But usually if anything, they would go ahead and replace the head with a smaller one. So again with Dreamer's question...would that affect it's sentimental value for you?

Thank you for your responses DD and MB. No, it wouldn't ruin the sentiment at all to change the head. With this style I just wasn't sure if they could, but that would be the solution. I didn't want to bug Whiteflash unless I had something specific in mind to do with it.

I am almost completely and utterly positive they can easily replace the head. I imagine it would be in the $100 range.
