Hi,

Do Luceres in the 0.6 - 0.8 size look good? I''ve seen a few in the .8-1.0 carat range and they look great, however I wonder if a smaller size would start to become a bit pointless (lots of fire but too tiny to appreciate).

Joel,

I am the sales manager of a company that retails the Lucere, and manufactures jewellery using them. I can confirm that the smaller you go the more difficult it becomes to see the shape of the stone. Under 50 points in size they start to look like rounds. I currently have a 67 pointer that measures 5.10mm x 4.96mm, so the dimensions are similar to that of a 50 point round diamond.

I would say that between 60-80 points you will still have a wonderful result. A lot does depend on the setting though, so make sure you pick a setting that shows off the shape!

Hope this helps.

Joelbaby,

I'll have an answer for you in about two weeks. That's when the ring I am having made will be finished. I picked out a Lucere that is a little under .6 carats. Loose, I thought it was beautiful, but I'll see what it looks like set. Personally, I chose a setting that shows off its squareness (i.e. prongs on the corners).

Beware that this is a deeply cut stone, it will not face up as large as a RB or even a princess. I decided on a Lucere because my girlfriend definitely preferred square stones, but neither of us really liked the look of princess cuts, just too much going on. The Lucere certainly has an elegant look to it that we both love. Surprisingly, the price was very similar to princess cuts of the same size.
