Hi everyone!!
Today I noticed I had slipped a prong head on my ering. I think this happened last week when I slipped on ice (I know, I''m kind of clumsy) and I suppose it has just loosened up over the last few days to the point where I finally noticed.
I rushed to my B&M jeweler today and had a long conversation with him about what to do.
I have a white gold setting because I''m very heavy handed and apparently, I have a white gold prong head. My jeweler has suggested I switch to a platinum head as soon as possible because it will hold my princess better. He has also suggested switching to a claw prong as opposed to the standard prong head I have now. Regardless, I have to replace the head...and I will go with a claw, simply to reinforce the corners...
He quoted me $550.00 for a plat claw prong with labor....or $215.00 if I opt for another white gold claw prong head.
So I am curious to know if you all think this sounds like a typical price? I do not mind paying it, of course, but I''m just wondering if I''m getting a raw deal and paying to much?
Thanks in advance for your comments, I appreciate your insight!
