Hi everyone, I am enamored with my e-ring and have been wearing it for just over a month now, but I am getting very paranoid about how low the profile is and how close the diamond is to my finger. I am not sure why the jeweler decided to set it so low (if it is even that low in the first place). was it so that he could use less melee in the setting? is it just standard for it to be this low? should I have asked my fiance to make sure it was set high? (though I didnt not anticipate being worried about this) am I just being crazy or should I talk to my jeweler about it? Is this something my jeweler would easily be able to address or fix?

ALSO

the ring is a bit loose for me. I'm not sure why since it is my size. It spins and easily slips to my knuckle and starts edging off my finger (when its cold I'm worried it will come off when I'm washing my hands), so i figure it should go down a half size at least. because of the pave setting though, I'm worried that the stones will pop off if I have it resized, I dont want to compromise the integrity or durability of the setting. Would you recommend sizing beads since its such a small modification? Or should I just have it resized altogether? do pave stones come loose when rings are resized or is this not a common issue?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi yasssss,

What a beautiful ring, I love the sparkles down the side, they really enhance the ring. I think you are fine, the diamond looks to be well set as far as I can tell from the images, the culet looks to be well within the head of the stone, also I feel it's preferable to have a diamond set a little lower rather than higher. Sizing, this might be a case for sizing beads as removing some of the band might compromise the integrity of the melee stones, but your jeweller will be the best person to advise.

Many congratulations on your engagement! I think these feelings will fade once you have worn the ring for a bit longer, probably a touch of ' new ring' syndrome, many of us have been there. Time, wear and reassurance will cure that, enjoy your lovely ring!

I agree I think the capstone is set fine. Setting high/ low etc is sort of a personal preference. For your ring I actually think it looks perfect as you don't want the edges of the princess to hit against anything or snatch if set too high.

As far as sizing if you are only doing 1/4 to 1/2 size it shouldn't be an issue at all. How wide is your band? if it is under 2mm I would probably only do a quarter size to see how that works for you. Also it might be a bit more snug once you add on a wedding band.

Actually this is a really good point. My ring spins without my wedding band, once it's on the ring stays put. If you have your wedding band already, is there a chance you could try them out together to see if that improves matters?

I would try sizing beads first since the ring will fit about 1/4 to 1/2 size tighter when you add a wedding band.

To me the height looks perfect for comfort and daily wear. Some people like really high set diamonds. I am not one of those people, but if you are that's ok.

Why are you concerned about the height?

I think the height is ideal.

My ring swings around, too, and I got a little vinyl "ring noodle" for it that works perfectly. I can wear it when my finger is smaller and take it off easily when my finger swells up (which happens sometimes).

thanks everyone! I feel much better after reading your responses. I will definitely try on wedding bands with it to see if it fits more snugly and will also ask my jeweler to put in sizing beads for the time being (since my wedding isnt for another 6 to 9 months).

Dreamer- I am not concerned about height , just concerned about how close the cutlet is to my finger. i am worried it makes it vulnerable to damage or something. also, I was not sure if diamonds were usually set that low.

Lorelai- Thank you so much! I love the pave everywhere! and you are absolutely right, I definitely have new ring syndrome!! I'm so paranoid about everything lol. in fact, I dropped it today on the floor and it hit a table, and I completely freaked out. thankfully, nothing happened! I can't wait till the syndrome wears off, I'll definitely ask my jeweler what he recommends

I agree! ring noodles are great for instant fit. I got a set on Amazon for a few $.

Very glad we could help! I thought that might be the case, new ring syndrome, give it a few weeks and that should wear off then you can enjoy it. :wavey:
