Umm, who can now take their place among our best PS gem photographers?!! Yes, Ooh-Shiney, that would be you!!! :appl: :appl:

Your photos are awesome. Is that a Bob Kast rubellite? It's almost identical to mine.

Awesome!

Well, Geez, THANKS you guys...

It's going to get picture heavy now, so you have been warned !!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, what have we here ?

More bright little something-somethings.....

Skittles are good, so here are a few shots of them

Rightside up !!!!!

(can we stand it?)

Credit where credit is due.....

Gene Rubellite
Peter Spessartite
Dan Stair Chrysoberyl...

These are evening sun.
The series shows a "regular" shot, then the camera-edited shot for clarity and brightness,
and then the enlarged clarity shot.
Almost too much to stand.

Here they come.

Barry's stone isn't really as washed out looking as it appears in the
previous shots, it was just throwing back lots of light.
Here it is a bit more shaded...
Oh well, still too light...

Light is everything, and these shots prove it....

Dana Tourmaline
Dana Spessartite
Bob Kast Rubellite

I didn't edit anything on any of these shots, except to enlarge some of them.
The light was shining right in my eyes, so I was literally
counting on the little noises the camera makes and taking the shots "blind"
as the light was coming and going depending on the clouds and the wind blowing the trees...

WOW, all your stones are so pretty and your photos really show how beautiful they are    Especially love the Gene's umbalite, Gary's tourmaline and Dana's Spessartite!!!

I don't like Skittles, but these gems...I could just eat them up!!!

It's back to the drawing board with these skittles....
They are the naughty ones in the bunch...

Barry Spinel
Dan Stair Sapphire
Peter Yellow Grossular

Early morning shots, they might like evening better.... :sun:
(I hate grout, don't look !!!!! )

Well, I guess that's about it.
Sorry for the picture overload,
this is one of the first times in memory
that I am not coloring Eggs and hiding jellybeans tonight...
So thanks for indulging me :))

It's like an easter egg hunt!

Um.... that afghan tourmaline is YUMMY. :lickout:

Amazing photographs. I'm jealous, I like your photos better than mine!! Did you take them all in sunlight, as I find I cannot focus in artificial light very well.

Gorgeous gems! I really love the PT spess, and your photography is amazing as well!

Ooooo lovely gems and cracking pics :D

First, Happy Holidays to you all !!!
to everyone who celebrates Easter and to those who don't !
Happy Day, Happy Spring !!!!
It's been in the 90's here, but SO DRY ! We could use a little rain....

Thanks HereKittyKitty and MB : I don't take ANY credit for these photos, they
are the work of genius cutters and Mr Sun.... Oh, and maybe that new Nikon P&S
(I'm pretty happy with it ! )

Atwater, those are pretty, right?
I really love Gene's cutting, and his choice of material is pretty right-on.
I need to stop looking at his site.
The Afghan Tourm is a pretty one, but I LOVE the color of yours, too !!!!
The Spess from Dana was a tiny gift, I don't credit myself with choosing it. :sun:
But I love it and am Soooo happy he sent it !!!!!

jstarfire6, I don't care for Skittles much either !!!
I was in my living room after work a few days ago, and decided to take
some pictures of a few stones outside. I put the ones I had selected onto
a gembox cover and snapped a few shots to sort of "tune in" my camera.
The stones were all upside down for some reason, and I liked how it turned out,
and I liked the colors together, so I decided to run with the idea....

k9muttlover, I think I sort of miss the Easter egg hunt, but my sons
are kind of old now, and I was getting a lot of flack at work (good natured, of course :? )

TL ~ Come on, you are crazy, chicka!!!! Your close ups of YOUR stones is what I aspire to !!!!!
You guys are ALL my inspirations !!!!!!
And no, I seem to only get shots I like using natural light, either coming in through
a window, or outdoors. There is a place on my front porch that I sit in the late afternoon,
and in the morning I can get good light in my backyard patio, but only after about 10 AM or so,
because of the trees....
In my car doesn't seem ideal, because of the gray tinted windows...
I bought a Reveal lightbulb, so I am going to experiment with it in the house though.

talamasca, thanks !!!! Wait till you get that pink stone you are searching for !
We will be waiting waiting for YOUR pics !!!

IndyLady, thanks! I do love the PT spess, it is also a naughty gem though...
I have tried and tried to get a good picture of it ~ it seems I skipped the
rightside-up shot of it....

PT Spessartite ( "some" is never enough...)

You can clearly see the inclusions, which are sugar-sweet !
But man, look at that Rubellite !
It looks like a planet !
Gene says inclusions are typical for the material, and this one has lots to spare
The Chrysoberyl threw off so many sparks it looked like a little July 4 sparkler,
impossible to take pics of the dispersion !!!!

Well, that's about it, no more pictures from me until next month !!! (promise)
