silver with plat?

alright, so i just got this pendant from my mom, and i''m pretty sure its silver, (actually im certain-but its beautiful)
but it has on the back PLAT and then underneath what seems to be a "925" (well i assume it was that.
why is there PLAT ? does that make sense to anyone who knows anything? hehe

Its a lovely pendant.. !! but I just know nothing about it, my mom is not even sure where it was from my aunt gave it to her.. etc.
so if any of you know HELP

is it "platinum" plated? Like Silver with Rhodium over it?

Maybe if there are diamonds set in it the settins for the stones are Plat and the rest is silver?

Some places (I can think of one shop-at-home network off the top of my head) sell silver items that are plated with platinum to prevent tarnishing and give you that "platinum look" at the "silver price."

i think it came from a trip, so i don''t think its from a home-network. even if it was i wouldn''t care too much because its THAT nice.. but, it may be platnium rhodium plated..
hmmm, i think thats the best bet.
do they ever mix the two together? (to make one metal?)
the way the pendant is cut is called "diamond cut" its nice, its super sparkly..
and even if i have various diamond necklaces right now this is my new favorite..
