Sideways Pear history?

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know the history of the sideways pear shape setting? I am just curious about who first set the pear-shape on its side in a solitaire. (like this one from Conroy & Wilcox...not promoting them or anything...just wanted to give an example of what I mean.)

No idea about history, but it's actually quite cool in a bezel like that.
