Wow.l, you have a great selection of them! Do you have a favorite, and if so, why?

It occurred to me tonight... there is something so appealing about this color range of orange. Cheese balls, no matter how gross, are still attractive lol! It’s the color! Very similar to spess ...without the depth and sparkle of course. Such psychology in color.

Thanks! I like the emerald cut spess the best, because it's pretty unusual. Mike from Gran Gem said he cut this one into emerald because it's cleaner than most Loliondo spess.

+1
Something luscious about a spessartite.
Always my favorite color crayon(s) as a kid:

Ketchup on cheese balls? That's a culinary delight I've yet to try. :mrgreen2:

Ha! No way! That was being used by one of the other 6 people living in my house right now. And young adults/kids tend to LOVE ketchup! But, maybe it’s not bad? ....hmmm. I think the cheese balls would need more body to hold the ketchup flavor...lol!

@MissSarah absolutely beautiful stone. Coincidentally I am waiting on a new ring being made, with a central 2.5ct red orange spessartite and 5mm round brilliant mali garnets on each side. I absolutely love mali garnets and will share photos when finished.

That is awesome! I can't wait to see. Are Mali sparkly like spess are? Orange was not my thing but once I saw the glitterbomb they create, spess were all good in my eyes. The red-orange ones remind me of Dorothy's slippers in Wizard of Oz.

@MissSarah Mali garnets are a grossular andradite hybrid and have a high refractive index. They are super sparkly! They can vary in colour I think from green through to yellow and brown.

It tends to bounce between this and a more orangy color depending on the light. I want to set it with a yellow green Mali Garnet as a sort of snake head in a twisty ring, but we'll see if I ever get to it.

Oh, what a cool stone! I LOVE the snake ring idea! I think everyone should have one for those days when the mood is right. And, Mali garnets are amazing. I’ve seen some and they absolutely explode with sparkle and subtlety of color.

Actually, since I saw some Mali garnets at a gem show last year, I’ve been really thinking about them. They would be amazing to create forest, Fall like piece of jewelry. The color ranges seemed to embody the essence of deep forest colors, dry pasture colors, along with the late golden light of late Summer, early Fall. So much could be done with them!

@Bluegemz I'm right there with you for the autumnal hues. Absolutely my fave time of the year and that wonderful colour range of spessartites and mali garnets is just gorgeous!
I think for me additionally having these beautiful stones and knowing they are completely natural is really special! :mrgreen2:

I love that concept. Using natural stones to create an impression of large scale beauty on Earth is amazing to me.

I know! Just look...I think it would be amazing to make a necklace out of many of them, with varying colors, the gold echoing organic forms, like with golden leaves.

My ring is ready. My lovely jeweller sent pics today and I should have it tomorrow or Saturday. So this a central 2.5ct red orange spessartite with 5mm round brilliant cut mali garnets on each side. I like to keep settings simple to let the stones speak for themselves!
