Thanks @Bluegemz :)) . I’ve been looking for a translucent and glowy gem silica and was happy to find this one.

Stracci2000, this is a stunning display of beautiful cabs and your workmanship. All the settings are different! Where did you learn to do this? I am SO impressed.

Thanks for the nice compliment!
As a lifelong jewelry lover, I was first interested in stringing beads. I quickly got bored with that, and wanted to work in metal.
A lady from Zuni Pueblo, here in New Mexico, taught me silversmithing.
This was in 2003, so I've been at it a long time. I just experiment with sterling sheet and wire. Everything is hand wrought, no castings.
It is so much fun!

Here are my cab rings. The sun is setting and so the rings look a bit dark.

Wow :kiss2: What's the huge black one in the top picture in the middle on the ring finger? Black star diopside? Banded agate? Can't see properly.

I adore cabs! Don’t have many unset ones, but here are a few favs in jewelry. In translucent cabs, the glow is captivating, and in opaque ones, the feeling of the stone is captured so well. I've seen pictures of cats eye scapolite but wasn't really impressed until I saw yours! What a lovely collection! :D
Here is another photo. It's really a very dark burgundy color. So hard to photograph!

Hey, Thank you!! I don’t have a thread on it, but here are the deets...I think this one is around 32 carats if I remember correctly. It’s set in silver and I got it from opals by Margie on Etsy. I also looked at similar ones from black opal direct, but I liked that this is already set, and an extra large size. I always have loved the super dark Australian black opals with just blue. They are so mysterious to me, and remind me of looking into deep space. Since this type does not have a range of colors, they are also Generally more affordable. This one is a solid black opal, with just a bit of green, but otherwise Blue against black. The blue patterns emerge from deeper into the stone, because of its translucence even though the body color is dark... so sometimes it appears more solid blue and sometimes In certain lights, the black can appear with some Smokey grey as it translucent Rather than opaque. It’s always changing depending on lights.
here are 2 other pics of it!

I've been poring through the cabochon oriented shops on Etsy recently and found something I'd never seen before. It's a silvery blue tourmaline with an almost metallic sheen. It was under $40 so I bought it. Am thinking of setting it in one of Dan's rings if it's as pretty as it appears in the pictures.:)

Yum yum yum. Like CANDY

Something about those transparent blue/green cabs that just get my heart pitter pattering. I just adore that Chrysoprase and chrysocolla :kiss2:

I just spur of the moment bought my own cab - 5.95 carat Chrysoprase :))

Fiance will likely not be pleased. Whoops. It was like trigger finger. Could not be stopped.

thanks!
Is a 5+ct Paraiba, and it really was more green than blue in most lightings.
Another PS owns it now, I think she had plans for a ring with it.

I have only 2 cabs and they are identical, 2 little chrysoprase. My very first earrings in 14K gold, made in the USSR in mid 70th. I got my ears pierced when I was 11-12y.o. Never liked them because they looked boring to me. Now I am extremely happy that they are still with me. There were only a few natural things set in soviet era factory made jewelry, mostly cabs. All sapphires, rubies, alexandrites etc. were lab grown. IMG_1491 (2).JPG IMG_1494 (2).JPG IMG_1500 (2).JPG

Darnit I was HOPING it wasn't a paraiba for my own sake...well out of my budget for now, but deep down, I knew, I knew....sooooo beautiful. I will satiate my blue green desire with less spendy stones for a while :lol-2:

They are pink sapphire and ruby with blue sapphire zones

These stones are beautiful. Where did you get these? I would love to purchase some.
