I honestly don't know if there is a thread but we need a thread for cabs. All cabs, ANY cabs, because they're all pretty darn special.

I don't have recent pics (and its super cloudy today, will not happen!) but these are some of my cabs that I have. Some day I will expand this side of my collection.

1ct Ruby. its not see through but thats ok. Not treated and I love the color in person. Said I would set it (I totally never did...lol) but maybe I will someday..maybe.

Jasper I don't remember the size...

29ct Variquoise I know almost nothing about this stone except it comes from Utah

Lapis Not sure the size. I LOVE this color. I've been trying to find enough stones similar to it for years and failed. Its probably not the highest quality, which would be darker more even, but the color. :kiss2: ..its very vibrant in person.

@Rfisher your cabs!!!! :oops2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: is the bluegreen one near the top peruvian opal?

The orange is really so pretty and glowy. I just don't know how I want to set it. first I thought maybe a ring, then I though no, maybe a necklace. I still don't know...lol The lapis is ridiculous. Its so pretty, and so hard to match to any other lapis! I some day want a suite of lapis if with pyrite specs but it can come at a steep price.

Thank you!
Not opal, It’s Australian Chrysoprase from Ryan Quantz. In an awful local custom setting I’ll redo someday.
I hear you on setting decision paralysis! Ring/pendant/ring pendant!
Can imagine your lapis is hard to match it’s pretty unique looking - I love it. Love the darker stuff and with pyrite as well. I want all the things!
And did you get that orange from Lapicarey a while back? If you did, I almost pulled the trigger on it!

And @arkieb1 if orange chalcedony is carnelian, well duh on me. Today I Learned. Lol!

is that what the orange stuff is?? LOL if so YES!

@Rfisher

well, I actually like the setting   but I hear you. You probably see things in person that really can't get picked up by camera.

I have to think about who I got it from because old age is kicking in and I have no clue!! What I do remember is that he was an American who worked mainly in cabs though he did have some faceted stuff. He carried LOTS of unusual cabs too like the variquoise, which is a natural mix of turquoise and varascite. Then I had to know what varascite was and its very pretty very rare and very soft!

Probably the most interesting of them all, so much of what I bought was pretty cheap at the time. Pretty sure the lapis, variquoise and tiger eye was the most expensive.

Yeah, me too! Both paraiba cabs have new homes with PS’ers. I worried way too much about damage just with occasional wear, that I couldn’t enjoy them. Probably needlessly, but the anxiety won.

Off to google Moroccan fire amethysts!

Everyone has amazing cabs! I have a bunch of cabs too, mostly the rock type though.
Ocean Jasper cabs - there‘s just something about the little orbs in ocean jaspers that appeals to me.
