After my misadventure with an antique repro ring that had been sold to me as antique (thanks for the hallmark help, guys -- I ended up returning it and eating the minimal restocking fee, so I appreciate your eyes!), I am so very excited to show off this beautiful blue baby who probably had an extremely interesting life before we met:

She is Swedish and turning 101 years old at the end of October (wedding inscription inside and hallmarked for Bäckström). 23k band with 12 lil diamonds and a center sapphire. The hundred-year-old stones are in truly excellent shape -- makes me glad I returned that repro Deco piece that had seen some abuse!

@kh85 Your ring is gorgeous! Love the yellow gold with your skin tone and really makes the diamond “pop”. My cousin had a similar problem with her vintage engagement ring. She decided to purchase a band with a complementary pattern and wear it on her right hand.

This is my 0.65ct QR oec set in 18kWG tablet in 18kYG ring.

On the sides are Egyptian hieroglyphics to represent the letters G C, the initials of my parents surname, which coincidentally are my initials .

This garnet and gold set is at least 100 years old and belonged to my great-grandmother in Germany. Accordingly there is only a 333 stamp on the pendant. I can not find one in the ring. The pendant is actually nicer than the ring and has this cross shape detail. I wear it once a year with my traditional German dirndle dress for Oktoberfest. :).

Angela
way too pretty to only come out once a year
they need at least a monthly outting so more total strangers can love it :appl:

oh i love you wear your dad's rings
and his jade is stunning and i love all pinkys especial sentimental ones

The pinkie is sentimental- a dear friend of mine gave that to me... the ring is joined in one section, and the rest is separate... in essence- we live our separate lives but am connected.

It was given 20yo ago but it was too small. Until recently, did I find a jeweler locally that I trusted and also the gold to resize it. The remnant gold was from my great great grandfathers button, which I have posted below.

This is my great great grandfathers wedding button 22kYG. (c1890)There are about 36of them which have now been distributed to the relatives. Some got more than their fare share due to who was looking after who’s heirloom button.

I finally found a jeweler to help me convert this button into a pin.

The remnant/ back of this button was used to resize the double band pinky ring that I shared above.

I bought this gorgeous ring a couple days ago. The seller said is from around 1900 set in 14kt white, rose and yellow gold but no hallmarks in or outside the ring. The specs on the appraisal are 1.09 SI1/L. There a some abrasions on the culet.
I think it's an OMC, what do you think?

It looks like an OMC to me. I really like the faceting on your diamond.

I am loving this thread. I adore how old threads just live and compile and we have this magical historic catalog of all sorts of beauties.

I have always adored vintage pieces starting with my grandmother's ER. 1 carat, G/H platinum and rose gold (or very worn yellow) from the 40s. They married in 41 or 42. Sadly, her wedding band was stolen in a robbery in the 80s. If her mother had anything it went to her sisters and my cousins. I love the detail on the post. And I wish more stones were set in tiny boxes like the side stones.

Here are a few bands I have picked up.i think this one is the same era.

Tiffany eternity is older, not sure it is actually vintage. Little 2mm WG band has single cut diamonds and lovely engraving. Was sold as early 1920s but not sure.

And of course my beloved ER. The gemologist I got her from (he does amazing repair work for insurance) showed me loose OECs and then her. He estimated she was a transitional cut due to the cutlet and probably 1929 around there. Platinum and emeralds round it out. I am waiting to do a SMTB when I get my calipers so I can get some measurements (what have I become?).

I'm talking with cjdsako @ cicadajewelrydesign( in LA) about replacing the emeralds. He does amazing restore work and custom design. If you're not familiar with him, you should check him out my fellow antique jewelry lovers!

I am so excited having read about Sako (and that he is local). I was going to go back to the guys who sold it to me but they have rather unpredictable hours

Thank you so much for the beautiful and detailed photos. I LOVE those side details.

I agree - I love how these old posts are an ever expanding catalogue of ring designs.

Thanks for bringing a bit of, “Ohhhh that’s LOVELY” to my day.
