Just got this - fully hallmarked for 1883. 20230324_121353.jpg 20230324_121501.jpg

I love it! Where did you get it? You should post in the snake jewelry thread. :)

Here you go, she's also on ebay. Is there a snake thread?! I also want a griffin and some bugs (butterfly, dragonfly)

Keen observers, @oldcutclubmember & @Star gazer

Yes, I was weak and gave in when I saw the fluidity of these stylistic lines, pierced openwork, airier/lacy designs, a touch of Greek Key motif, the chubby old cut pears, and the size.

Took a crash course in Lang’s Antique Jewelry University. The brooch might be from the late Edwardian, early Art Deco, possibly being re-purposed during the Retro period, an un-educated guess…no?

I am a little sad that the pin is lost now. It’s not a small brooch and I wonder what it has seen with the pervious care takers. Did they wear it often, to what and where? Or they were magpie and wore it to everywhere, ha!

Those were the exact reasons I was eyeing it too! I’m so glad you got it so that I can continue to admire it in perspective and stylized. It’s beautiful special piece and so substantial. Enjoy it!

Incoming unknown metal content, unmarked. Weight is 5.71 grams. Hmm, anyone want to bet on gold or plate?
I will probably have the enamel repaired on the center flower center.

This was a Victorian pin that got converted into a necklace. I don't like the necklace, the color is off and it's super thin. I'm thinking of making it into a pendant. 20230412_072119.jpg 20230412_072131.jpg

As a newbie, I'm very impressed by these little pears bc of the lack of bowtie, can't take my eyes off the them!

There is something about the proportions of an old cut pear, much less likely to have bow tie effect. I don’t think I’d ever bother buying a modern pear for that reason.

Hard yes for diamonds.
Not fully committed to the idea when buying CS. Gems are just so hard..!
