Show of hands...who is "au naturel"?

It seems like in this day and age, you can alter your looks in all kinds of ways. Whenever I see a pretty actress with a thick mane, I think "Wow, gorgeous hair!" but they always turn out to be extensions...people I see with beautiful lashes, they're wearing fake lashes. when I compliment people's hair, they said it's colored. It made me realize that I'm one of the very few women going "au naturel" and doing the best with what I've got....anyone else?

Disclaimer: I do groom somewhat and wear make-up, so I'm totally "NOT" the wild jungle lady.

Re: Show of hands...who is "au Naturelle"?

I'm pretty natural. I adore my hair color (it's red) so I'll never color it (well, I can't promise I won't cover up grey!). I don't have any fake eyelashes or fingernails.

In my current job, I'm not allowed to wear makeup in the manufacturing facility (because it can introduce particles into the air). I do wear some mascara and blush, so I'm a cheater, but it's still a bit different for me and I'm getting used to it.

Most of the women I know are totally natural except maybe hair color (though most of my friends don't dye their hair either).

Totally thought this was referring to a different type of...err..grooming.

Oh, all grooming is discussed here, and yes....au naturel.

I didn't know what to think with that title...

I'm almost natural. I dye my grey hair. I would like to stop, but don't know how. My natural colour is/was medium brown with red/blonde highlights. I think there is an area underneath that is still brown.

I rarely use makeup. No cosmetic surgery or botox or anything. I stay out of the sun completely so I look younger.

I am. No hair color, no extensions, my nails aren't acrylic. I wear only a little bit of makeup (usually just tinted moisturizer, chapstick and mascera). No plastic surgery, no botox, no fake tan.

I'm no supermodel, I just prefer the natural look for me, and I happen to like my natural hair color!

Give me some lip gloss and I am out the door. No hair coloring, no nails, no makeup, just all natural me.

I wear makeup and sometimes highlight my hair and definitely fix my hair, but I don't have any fake parts. In my area, it's rare to see any woman with anything more than fake nails though.

No hair coloring or extentions for me, no fake lashes, no fake nails, no fake tan or plastic surgery...But I don't leave the house without a bit of makeup.

I started this topic because I grew up around guys (dad, brother) who wanted the natural looking girl, and am now finding out that there a lot of guys who like girls with fake EVERYTHING. I worked with a gal who had extensions, colored contacts, fake lashes, acrylics, big obvious implants, spray tan 24/7, and there were a ton of guys who went for that look too. Kind of makes me wonder whether there are still guys who appreciate the au naturel look?

I am. My hair color is natural, no extensions or highlights. I don't have fake nails, I rarely ever wear makeup. I guess i'm just too lazy to be high maintenance. :cheeky:

I'm pretty much all natural. I have totally straight hair that I don't blow dry or curl or straighten or anything. I don't color it, either. It's brown and I like the color, despite a previous hairdresser who tried to get me to color it the 2 times I went to her! (I switched after that.) Then the next hairdresser I went to actually asked me if I colored my hair because it was a pretty color. (SO THERE hairdresser who tried to tell me I needed to color my hair!) I do wear mascara and a little concealer and powder, but that's it as far as make up. Fake nails, fake tan, etc. aren't my style. I rarely even wear nail polish. And I've never had cosmetic surgery. I actually don't think I know anyone who has had cosmetic surgery.

All this may change when I get older and have greys to cover, etc.! But I'm so low maintenance (aka LAZY) that I couldn't keep up with much more than hair color and maybe a little more make up.

With exception of a few ancient highlights I'm all natural. I don't really wear make up on a day-to-day basis, I don't use botox, I've never had plastic surgery and I'm lucky if I can get my act together to get my hair cut a few times a year. I think I'm the only 30 year old who lives with her hair in a ponytail!

You nailed it. I'm just too lazy/busy with other stuff to do it. I used to highlight my hair, but it was too much maintenance, then I downgraded to home-dyeing kit to dye it one solid color, but that quickly grew to be too much work too, so I stopped EVERYTHING!

I am au natural and I am 32. No hair color, no false anyting what so ever. I think I look pretty good! Only about 2 grey hairs 8)

I don't have the time or the money to spend on that stuff! I wear some makeup on rare occasions...but otherwise, a bit of SPF moisturizer does me just fine. Fortunately, my hubby likes the natural look and detests "fakeness," so he's happy, too. I've started to get a few grays but I doubt I will bother to cover them, I kinda want to go gray gracefully and if I started dying it, I have a feeling it would be hard to know when and how to stop. Not to mention the maintenance, that's what really turns me off. Not gonna fight mother nature and father time...

Absolutely 0% makeup, fake tan, plastic surgery, hair extensions, acrylic nails, etc.

The only thing I can think of that isn't au nautrel right now is that I still have a bit of hair dye left on the end of my hair. But it's almost all gone! I have naturally brown hair, but I had been dying it black for a few years. Then I got tired of the upkeep, so I've been working on growing/cutting the dye out.

ETA: My husband LOVES that I don't wear makeup

I married a natural beauty. She does a minimum of makeup now that she is approaching 50, but she's beautiful to wake up to even with tangled hair. My daughters are much the same, although I seldom see them in the same sort of scenarios.
I don't admire or pay much attention to women who package themselves. Honesty goes much further.
Fake is so obvious.

I'm au naturel! LOL

I don't color my hair. The only makeup I wear is mascara. My nails are natural, although I do like some polish now and then. To be honest, I don't even shave my legs unless I know I'll be wearing shorts. Haha.

Well, sorta natural:

Hair color is helped along

lashes are my own

No Botox or fillers

gel nails

I love make up and feel better when I wear it.

Well I'm a priss... So I highlight my hair and wear extentions. Don't worry, they are not the trashy Jersey Shore type! ;) I wear make up, but not a lot of it. My nails are my own and I definitely don't do the whole tanning bed thing.

I just can't help it. I don't like how thin my hair is and I look awful without make up.

you tell me?

Well, right now I'm au naturel apart from some faded, realllllly old highlights in the lower half of my hair... I'll color it a deeper brown again before the wedding, though, to cover those highlights.

I do wear makeup.

Hmm, I guess I'm mostly au naturel.

I color my hair. I have lots of smooth, long, wavy hair. No one has ever asked me if it's fake (well that I can remember) but I get a lot of compliments on it and I've actually had strangers touch my hair... Whenever I get my hair done (which takes forever!) the other stylists and colorists will comment on how much hair I have.

I wear makeup but I think people assume I don't because I'm very fair. I went to the doctors office today and three of the nurses and my doctor all told me how pretty my skin was. I think someone said I looked like a porcelain doll. I wear a decent amount of makeup too, especially concealer and bronzer. I don't go tanning, I've done the natural looking Versaspa tanning which I love but is pretty expensive.

My nails are natural. I paint them sometimes but always use very light colors.

My eyelashes are extremely long and thick. I love not having to worry about wearing a lot of mascara but they can be a PITA. My brother inherited long eyelashes from my dad's side too and when he was about ten or twelve he trimmed them so they'd stop getting in his eyes lol. I get asked if they're fake too.

I've been asked if my Burberry and Louis Vuitton purses were fake and I was recently asked if one of my rings was fake. It's funny how some people aren't afraid to ask you anything or just comment on your appearance. I went to get gas today and the cashier just randomly told me I'm tall. I thought it was funny, he said it as if I didn't know I was tall or something lol. :))

I just got highlights. To help camouflage my grays.

I've had a (ahem, DF) breast reduction.

Make up? Ok, cool.

Tan? Natural, from reading in the sun.

No extensions, although I've been asked that. Nope. It's taken me a very long time to grow out my (ALMOST) all natural hair.

me too...

No nails, no hair color, no botox, no fake tan.

I did get braces, otherwise I'd look like a donkey.

If anything, I tend to take away (pluck eyebrows, and NOT au naturel when it comes to body hair), but I don't add.

But then again, no one is stopping me on the street for my natural beauty either!

SO jealous. Mine is that maddening in between texture. Well, more on the straight side, but with just enough wave that it needs to be blow dried if I care about how my hair looks that day.

I was thinking about doing one of those new perms that gives you a loose, 'beach hair' wave once I grow it out, but who knows if I'll have the guts to do it.

As for the original question, au natural here. No hair color, fake nails, extensions, etc. Not a big fan of makeup either, though I do put on mascara and concealer most days. I've had fake nails TWICE in my life (both in my teens) and they drove me so crazy, I ended up picking them off and majorly damaging my natural nails. Never again.

I can't say I won't ever color my hair since I've seen a few grays pop up in the last few months, but as of now, no.

ETA: Body hair is a different story.

I look like I've had breast implants but they are au naturel.

LOL Kenny!

I highlight my hair, I was really blonde when I was younger and (like many others) it darkened as I got older. Highlights make me feel more like "me".

Otherwise, I'm pretty natural I guess. I've never had a manicure/extensions/botox etc, mostly because they are expensive and IMO, not worth the price. I've been asked if I have extensions though (I have a lot of hair).

Now, I have no problem with people who do get implants or whatever. People can do whatever they want with their own bodies as long as it makes them happy. For instance, DH knows that if my boobs sag terribly after children, I intend to get them put back where they started!
