Perfect bezel - I have never seen one so intricate & I love that you can still see the underside of that beautiful diamond.

The good folks I worked with at Ft Thomas Jewelers in Highland Height, Ky were great. We started with a CAD, then a 3D printed mold and tweaked from there until this emerged. Even reused the tiny side baguettes from the original setting :)

All in all, the cost was something you couldn’t beat with a stick,so much I asked if they forgot to charge me for something!

Just adding my R color AVR :kiss2: I love it, though I know it’s everyone’s cup of tea, it is my PERFECT cup of chamomile tea. The light return on this diamond is so fantastic, it has truly been a lesson of “cut is king”.

Love! Does the yellow gold add a more champagne feel to it? I have mine set in rose gold and thinking about changing to a 2 tone yellow/white gold. With the diamond being surrounded in yellow gold and the band white gold.

Here is my K or L (two reports, 2 colors) VVS1 2.61 pear. It’s an older cut, likely cut in the 1920’s. A bit of a bow tie but the polish and symmetry is really good. And she’s long at 1:1.71 so, much like Dr Who ‘this bow tie is cool.’

I bought her in the original pre WWII platinum prong setting but the girdle is extremely thin and frosted, and really prone to chips, and I am a hand talker. So... I took a different path and embraced the warmth, faint yellow in the body and dropped her into a full bezel of 18 carat gold with a platinum shank (resused the original).

The color really shows in some pics and not in others, as you can see here. Took both at my desk, same light, within moments of each other. The only difference is the white of the napkin in one as background and the blue of my portfolio pad in the other.

I adore so called lower colored stones in deep, high carat gold - they just stand out so much from the crowd of ice white. Don’t hide the color, flaunt it!

Yes, I would agree that since putting it in 18ct YG with a full wrap of gold as opposed to very white pre WWII platinum prong affair (PLT was annealed different then now and old PLT seems whiter that modern PLT generally) that the natural color of the stone has really jumped out. It was a hint of color before and now it’s a slap in the face :)

Before enclosing the stone is so much gold we really did eye ball her against a few colored LF and F yellows versus brown diamonds the jeweler has on hand to get some confidence that the body tipped towards yellow, versus brown.

Like all pears, you see it in the tip which is narrow and long as the stone had a 1:1.71 ratio.

I do not think I have posted my Indian Summer in this thread. It is an 2.51 M-N set in platinum

So, so nice! Is it an older cut stone?

It is a transitional cut dating approx 1910-1920. I love that it still has the blocker facets than modern rounds. Besides it faces up really nicely

A beautiful stone. I have one very similar concerning the facet pattern, but with no culet and a 60% table. I still could not find out what it could be. Do you have the specs of yours?

My M-N Transitional cut. I get her tint from looking at her from the side and in super bright sunlight, but in most lighting I think she faces up pretty white. I have also noticed that depending on which phone I use (Samsung or Apple) I get totally difference colors in the same lighting. hmm experiment perhaps

I took this photo of my newish 1.79ct M/brown VS2 AVR today! It's the unset stone on the right, next to an EGL I tranny in platinum and a GIA J emerald (needs a scrub!) in rose gold. IMG_20200616_151022.jpg

Ok, we need a lot more pics of these beauties!! They are screaming, "we want our own thread!!" ;)2

Thank you! They've got threads somewhere on here, I'm pretty sure... Except the M, that one has been lurking quietly in the jewelry box waiting for me to decide what to do with it! I think I'm going to set it in a CvB Astrid in rose gold, and recently considered doing tiny alexandrite accent stones instead of the default diamonds, but who knows. I'm really bad at following through on setting projects.
