We have so many other threads, I thought I'd start one to collect photos of all the beautiful, "older" cut stones owned by PS members. Please share your photos along with cut type and stats if you have them. :naughty:

Antique Cushion from around 1910. It is a 1.30 L SI1 6.92 x 6.88. I'm very patiently waiting for it to be set.

this is my old cut engagement set, were not actually married but the rings are welded together! we got it of ebay for a complete bargain and i love it!!! my jeweler said its a victorian stone in a modern setting.
center stone 1ct SI1 J-K
side stones .40ct SI1 J-K
but this stone faces up more like a g-h which seems to be common in old cuts. p.s on a size 8

GREAT thread idea!

I have an older cut stone. It was recently certified as an OMB by GIA, but I *believe* the preferred term is OMC around here. The woman who sold it to my jeweler said she thought it had been in her family for close to 100 years, so I believe it's from the early 1900s but I don't really know.

2.30 ct O/P, SI1

I love the FLY OEC! The color & flahses of color it sends off is amazing!!

Wow, LaurenThePartier, I have never seen anything like that transitional cut oval before! It is awesome! Any chance you have a thread already on that bad boy? :) Also, is that a pretty rare type of stone? What is the light performance like?

My heirloom (Nana's wedding ring, 1929) yum yum with four half-ish carat OECs.

:cheeky:  :cheeky: Wow Ninama. What an incredible heirloom. It is definitely a show-stopper.

Oooh la la...just received my dream engagement ring!

1.76 OMC, 7.10 X 7.30, size 5, EGL-cert. K/L, SI2, cut good, polish good

I love the height on this stone! It faces up white much of the time but also reveals its yummy lemon color on occasion. I love the milgraining, and the faceting is simply incredible. I am so happy with it! It's such a shame that so many of these stones are being recut for better profit...

Unicorn64, what a beautiful stone you have. I'm afraid I wouldn't be as patient as you are. I couldn't wait to have that beauty set so I could wear it. Yummmmmm...  In my other thread, you asked if my new stone was a transitional cut. I honestly can't say for sure but I'm thinking that it may be. It is an older stone and definitely has bolder, chunkier flashes of both bright light return and coloured fire. It is a 2.5 ct M SI1. I'm posting more pictures in the hopes that someone else may be able to tell me if it is indeed a transitional cut.

Let's keep the pictures coming. I love those older cut stones.

Here are mine - there are a few that aren't photographed, and a 1.15ct OEC that is on its way to me (currently being reset), so those aren't included.

Here's a .52ct OMC, illusion set to give it a bit more presence!

Also, I have an Emerald ring with two round cut side stones that are either OMC or Europeans (probably Europeans).

Wow, that OEC is a beauty, and huge too!

and hereeee is mine...

1.67 ct antique cushion 7.06 x7.49 O-P color range, lovingly dubbed Big Poppa : )photo-11.jpgphoto-8.jpgIMG01769-20110212-2158.jpgIMG01762-20110211-1417.jpgIMG01763-20110211-1423.jpg

Here is mine. It's a round brilliant, cut probably in the late 1940's. I wanted a stone that would be similar in "age" to my mother's e-ring stone (since I was supposed to inherit her ring, but it mysteriously went missing). GIA graded it a round brilliant, J VS2. It may be a round brilliant, but it's not cut anywhere near the specs we're accustomed to today. It has a 65% table! Still, GIA qualified the cut as "very good", so it was worth the $2,000.- we paid for it at 1.21 cts. It has a nice spread at pretty much 7 mm, so I don't think it will look very small when set, and ironically, it's being set now by the good folks at I.D. Jewelry into the setting to follow this post. Then since I chose a four prong e-ring setting (even though the original plan was for a six prong), I.D. is custom making me a coordinating nine stone diamond band, each stone being .08 pts. and each stone being held by four tiny prongs to match the e-ring. And then..... because it's an old stone in an older type traditional setting, I got an antique repro hand engraved wedding band to go with. Three rings will make up my new set and I'm done with this project! Pics to follow!!! First the stone in question.....

IMG_1766.JPG

And now my choice of e-ring mounting, custom diamond band and antique hand engraved wedding band. All will be in 14K white gold. It's not my real wedding set. I'll reset my pear (my real e-ring) with a matching diamond band in platinum, but 14K was fine for this project.

I'll start with adding my rose :naughty:

That's ok - this is still a fun thread!

Here's 2 of mine - the first is my great-grandmother's, and is estimated at 1.15ct, J color - it's beautiful!

The second one is a 5-stone band I recently picked up, with OEC's of varying colors and fluorescence levels, and tapering from about 0.4 to about 0.1 ct . Faces up uniformly white and sparkly!
