Shocking, I know, but I''m in love with the five-stone ring style and would want to have one as my engagement ring rather than a solitaire. If you have a five-stone, I''d love to see hand shots of them alone please! I''m curious about different five stones settings. Are there any five-stone setting styles apart from shared prongs and trellis? Also, can anyone show me what a five-stone engagement ring would look like with a plain wedding band?

Thanks!

Anchor31,

Here is my 5 stone ring. It is shared prong but the prongs are not the traditional "in the corner " prongs but a central prong between each stone. It is 1.10 ctw and the stones are G SI1s. The size is 4.75. Also the stones are graduated in size down from the center stone to the end stones. I wish I knew how to attach more than one pic so I''ll do another post with the 5 stone ring with a plain band. Hope this helps.........

Here is the 5 stone with a plain band. Sorry but the only plain band I had was YG. Hopefully you can get an idea of what it looks like with a plain band anyways.

Wow! Love the graduated ones... It surely looks just as nice as with the plain wedding band as it plays 'band' next to the other diamond ring.

And there aren't so many of them either.

Your idea is by no means 'shocking', Anchor31

Thanks, feathers! Here''s the best I could do. It looks very "scallopy" from the side with the center prong coming out of the indentation between stones. I wish I could get a better picture!

Ana, thanks! Maybe I should wear it sometimes with just the plain band...hmmm. I absolutely love, love, love the one you showed! Wow.

Wow, Matatora! I had no idea there are so many 5-stone rings around here...

Although most seem to be bands, not stand alone rings.

If you like antique rings, you may find that a certain style of graduated five stone rings were extremely popular for a long while (Victorian into Art Nouveau ). They look like THIS and are sometimes called 'half hoop rings' for obvious reasons.

There are a dozen or so examples towards the botom of the jewelry plate down this link. I couldn't find any better showing different sizes of five stone rings - not to mention the company

2 carat total, this one

So... there's no need for any convincing that your choice is a very classic one.
