I am hoping that this isn't a duplicate thread, but I was curious...

What necklace do you wear every day (or wear most frequently?) Why?

I am currently deciding how to set a small (4.7mm) heirloom diamond I have after I ditched my Leen Heyne ring idea, and am curious to see what YOU wear! I am seeing (fingers cross) if Kataoka will set my heirloom stone as they seem finicky about custom projects.

(using my diamond instead of the center rose cut diamond/red spinel and I'd pick platinum)

A necklace with a center that is fixed to one place might drive you crazy. You’d be adjusting it constantly. I much prefer a pendant that moves on a chain.

Oh interesting, I hadn't thought of that. Right now I have a small gold pendant on a chain and it drives me bonkers having to readjust the clasp because it always slips down and shows!

.75 ct unheated Montana sapphire. First one is my photo and the last two are the vendor’s photos.

A necklace with a stationary center moving around my neck bothers me far more than a moving clasp, but you may have different pet peeves than I do.

I love necklaces and have quite a few that I switch out all the time, so they're all kinda every day necklaces.

But for my next project, this is what I wanna do.
It's very similar to your first idea.

I have tried to wear them and they aren't me.

The closest I get to an everyday necklace is a Marla Aaron chain with locks. I had pearls strung to go with the locks because I love the look of it, but I think it's too fancy for me.

I have not worn a necklace in a long time, but for it to stay in place, weight in the center is helpful, at least for me. The locks tend to stay in place because they have sufficent weight, so necklace migration isn't an issue.

I just searched Marla Aaron and saw that you posted this today. I just ordered a malachite strand and babylock from MA after debating it for a few months. I am also thinking of sending in a pearl strand to have the loops put on. Can you post pics of yours?

Here you go. I want to shorten mine. I went slightly too long. You can hook a brooch on the loops too. 840735

0799A7CD-D44E-4367-99D8-DF85E192292A.jpeg I wear my Tiffany Victoria size medium all day every day. It is a fixed pendant and sometimes moves a little to the side but does not bother me. I layer it with a costume small paper clip style chain but hope to someday replace that with a real gold version. Here is the Tiffany shown layered with a diamond solitaire I had made for my daughter with my original engagement diamond.

That looks great! I ordered the malachite strand in 15" because I really want a choker. I love all your locks. Such a fun look!

I wear a pendant that was made with the leftover FIY diamonds from a 8.94 ct parcel that I bought to make a bracelet.
@Wink referred to them as the "weak sisters".

I’ve had costume sliding bezels and now have a real diamond sliding bezel. The diamond is heavier and so the clasp stays put much better. And I need a slider because I fidget constantly and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t absent-mindedly zip the bezel back and forth on the chain, lol.

As a chain person, my two everyday necklaces are:

1) My watch chain bought at auction in Germany - shown here with the bolt and moon man charms
2) The trombone chain I recently added dog clips to (so useful)

Why do I reach for these most often? I'm over having to worry about my jewelry. If I can't hike in it, I'm not interested. Here's a photo of me wearing both on a fall hike.

Gorgeous! So your clasp doesn't slip down to the front at all?! What sorcery is this?

Beautiful duo. The Tiffany's victoria collection seriously makes me weak at the knees!

This.

I have a little Thunderbird pendant that is weighty for its size and it is fixed in the center of the chain and it drives me nuts. I find myself constantly... neurotically... adjusting it. Still love it though and it works with the design but I much prefer a moving pendant. A visible clasp is more of an eyesore than an idiosyncrasy of function.

Maybe a decorative clasp or a weighted ball might take care of the eyesore aspect of an errant clasp. You could also try a chain that lays flat since those tend to move around less when worn.

Also a sliding pendant allows you to have the option of jump rings added; super versatile for solitare pendants that can be worn as a choker or longer if need be.

Lol. I mean, it does, just not as much. I might adjust it once a day vs once an hour with the cheap necklace. My hypothesis is that it’s the weight of the diamond but who knows.

At the moment, because I’m wearing casual clothes most of the time, my solitaire is getting lots of wear. I find it looks great with all manner of casual clothes.

Ah thank you for clarifying! Cute pendant too!
