Hi there! :wavey: I posted over in Rockytalk and haven't had much of luck getting responses so I figured I'd try here in SMTR! I am going to be getting some costs on shared prong round eternity rings and am debating on melee size of between 5pt - 10pt stones. I was wondering if anyone has around a size 5 finger and would mind posting some pics for me so that I can get a perspective on stone size. I looked at the eternity ring thread but finger size isn't mentioned often. I love this one on Jessica Simpson, but I have no clue what sized stones are in hers. Thanks for your help!

Oh, I will most likely be wearing this as a RHR on its own so I am leaning towards 8pt-10pt stones but we'll see what costing comes up as. I think I am definitely going to get quotes from ID jewelry because they have quoted me some nice prices previously and have some really pretty rings on here!

Oh here is the Jessica Simpson ring....

There are 5 pt stones, brian gavin melee, size 4.5 finger. I often wear it as a RHR on it's own or under a colored stone ring (like in one of the photo). Or I stack it with my mokume wedding band when I can't wear my Ering but still want a little bling.

I think it looks nice on it's own, very sparkly thanks to the precision cutting.

Thanks for posting Making the Grade! I have always liked that bezel setting too! And you can't go wrong with the BGD melee! Do you ever mix metals with your stackers? I think I am going to have to go with white gold so I can get larger stones. But my other rings are platinum and I am sure that on occasion I will end up stacking them together. But mostly I will wear it on its own I think! I am a size 5 on my left ring finger and a 5 1/4 on my right ring finger. For the most part tho, I can interchange rings from left to right hand. Do you think I should err on the higher side and go with the 5 1/4?

I found one pic awhile back. Not sure who's hand it is, so if it is you're ring...it is beautiful! But it is eight pointers on a size 5 hand. I think it gives good perspective as well which is nice.

Thanks for stopping by Vesper! I'm glad you got all of the issues worked out with your ring. I love it! Do you mostly wear it with your GORGEOUS e-ring or do you wear it on its own too? Did you end up having WF size it to a 5 or a 5 1/4? I'm not sure what size to do? I think I am leaning towards the 5 1/4 so I can wear it on both hands. Are your rings all the same metal?

Hey Lizzyann! I usually wear the eternity band with my ering, or just stacked with my channel-set wedding band on my left hand. I had originally ordered mine from WF in size 5.25 because it was recommended to go up a bit in size, but it was really too big & loose, and stood away from my finger too much. Here is a link to the original band with 22 diamonds:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/new-1-76-ct-whiteflash-shared-prong-eternity-is-here.113295//

Then I asked them to remake it in a size "5 BIG", with only 21 diamonds, and it fits perfectly now.

I really love the 8 pt stones with my solitaire, and I picked that size because I went to different jewelers to try on different sizes, and Tiffany makes theirs with 8 pt stones, and that's the ring I liked the best with my size solitaire.

However, if I were wearing it alone, or as a RHR, I would probably go with 10 pointers. I think the best thing to do is just go tey on as many different sizes as you can & see what you like.

I can't wait to see what you end up with!

Octavia, your ring is beautiful! It is so stunning. Is it the Tiffany one?

Vesper, I think I am totally leaning towards 10 pointers but I do think that the 8 pointers looks substantial enough too so if costing prohibits me from the 10pt, I think I may get the 8pt. I am definitely going to go try some on before committing. When you say "5 BIG", is it just a smidge bigger than 5? The size issue has me confused as to what I should do. Left hand rings are Size 5 (but they are a little loose), Right hand ring is like 5 and a smidge, not even quite 5 1/4. I can wear size 5 rings on my right hand. Maybe I'll just ask for Size 5 and a smidge. Is that dorky or what?

Are both your e-ring and eternity in platinum?

Thanks everyone for your help so far!

Does anyone have any idea as to what sized stones are in my first pic that I posted? I like that proportion.

Thank you!

I haven't taken any new pics yet, but I just got the stones re-set much lower (a lot more comfortable).

I posted in your thread in RT, but I did think the pic you posted looks similar in proportions to my eternity, which is 10 points a piece on a size 5.25 finger.

Dandi, thanks for stopping by! I remember seeing your eternity awhile back. It is beautiful on you! I definitely think I am loving the 8pt-10pt stones. How does it fit you? snug, a little loose, just right? Do you wear on your right and left hand? Any sizing advice for me? I just went thru your thread again to see if you had any profile shots but I didn't see any. Do you happen to have any hanging around that you wouldn't mind posting? Thanks so much!!!!

Hey Vesper, I actually was just looking at your ring that you got from ID jewelry for your new baby. That one is super pretty too. It looks like you had a great experience with ID as well. Would you recommend them for this eternity ring project that I am working on. I just don't think BGD and WF are going to be in my budget if I end up going with 10pt stones. I am going to make sure ID knows what kind of quality stone I am after though and will most likely do it in white gold. I keep trying on my BGD signature melee 6.5pointer bangle around my ring finger to get an idea for how it is going to look. I'm so dorky!

Are both your e-ring and eternity in platinum?

Hey Lizzie, both of my rings are plat. I think that size 5 big is like 5 1/8, so you could probably order that if they don't know what 5 big is. I tried on the 8 pointer eternities at Tiffany's, and their size 5 has 20 stones, and the 5.5 has 22 stones, so I figured that 21 stones is somwhere in between ...

I don't know if you have kids or not or are planning to, but even though my ring size didn't change after my first son, I gained for weight when I had my second and I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to get my ring back on, since eternities aren't sizable. It took 4 months, but it finally fits again. It is a little tighter than it was before, but I still have 25 pounds of baby weight to lose, so hopefully when that's gone it will be perfect again. So, I will say that if you're worried about your finger size ever getting bigger, you may want to go 1/4 size bigger just in case.

Also, I just saw your last post about ID Jewelry. I really loved working with Yekutiel and I would definitely work with him again. So, after my experience, I would absolutely recommend them for a project. I know that someone just got a shared-prong half-eternity from them and it is stunning. The quality & prongs look beautiful.

Thanks Vesper! I have one son who is 17 months old and we are planning on having one more child maybe next year if all goes well. So that definitely is something I am trying to keep in mind for sure. Towards the end of my pregnancy, my wedding set would not fit on my left finger, so I moved my three stone RHR to my left hand because that did fit. Luckily, all of my rings are fitting back to the way they used to but there is no telling what may happen the next time around. I think I may use your advice and go to the 5 1/4 to be on the safe side. I am going to try to hit Tiff's and try on their 5 and 5 1/2 to get more of an idea. Thanks for the great feedback on ID as well. This is the ring I am thinking of getting and the costing that they show online seems reasonable. http://www.idjewelryonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_53&products_id=7109

Now, my next issue is height of the ring. I don't want it too high, but not too low as I will most likely wear this as a stand alone RHR or maybe on occasion with my three stone RHR. I did see Orchid's half eternity from ID that is beautiful but it looks like she had to send it in to get it lowered. I'm not sure if I should specify a height or just see how it comes in. I think once I go to Tiff's I'll have a better idea how I would like it to fit. Not sure if Tiff's gives the height but I'm sure I could figure it out. I know Facets posts their so I could use that as a gauge too. Fun fun!!! Thanks for your help!

Octavia, your ring is beautiful! It is so stunning. Is it the Tiffany one?

Thank you! The Tiffany one was my inspiration, but I went custom for this and I think BGD did a great job. It's available as a stock piece now, if you search their website under diamond wedding rings. I wanted a 3/4 eternity rather than a full eternity, and I adjusted the proportions (I think the Tiffany one is 1- and 4.5-pointers, more or less). So it's about the same carat weight as the Tiffany ring, but bigger stones because they don't go all the way around. And less than half the price.

This is probably very strange to say... but this person (above pic) has stunningly beautiful hands! So elegant! The ring is amazing as well!

Thanks for the lovely compliments lizzyann! :wavey: It's a tad bit loose, maybe half a size? It was second hand so I didn't have a choice re. the sizing. I love the way it fits my left had, a little loose, but I have knuckles that guarantee that baby won't fall off! I would have loved to had it in a size larger though, say a 5.75, so I could wear it on my right hand... my right ring finger has a size 5.75-6 knuckle, but the finger itself is only about a 5.25! Boo :knockout: I'd recommend get it a tad bigger, rather than just snug.
If I get a chance tomorrow I'll take some profile pics for you sweetie! Enjoy your search! :appl:

Hi dandi, based on what you said, I think I am going to go with a 5 1/4 for my size. Maybe a 5 1/2, I dunno. I think 5 1/2 will be too loose on my left hand, but only a tad loose on my right hand. Decisions decisions... once I get to Tiff's I'll try on a 5 and a 5 1/2 if they have it to compare.

I would love it if you could post some profile shots whenever you have time!
