So the time has come to remodel my pool. Please send me some inspiration!! What would your dream pool look like?

Line the entire bottom with a rainbow of FCDs.

Is your pool gunite, concrete or vinyl liner?
I am getting ready to remodel mine as well. They have removed the liner, but it has rained for the past week so no work is being done. We are adding a tanning ledge with steps across the entire pool. Would love to know the size of your pool and what you are currently planning. Good Luck!

I like swimming laps for exercise, so if it were up to me, I would have a long rectangular lap lane for me, connected to a lounge/dipping area for non-swimmers like the 2 shown below. Dream Pool.jpgDream Pool.webp

Hi. It is plastered right now. I will be doing mini pebble tech. Working on coping, and tile options. Here is a pic. I can’t get the whole thing bc it is 43 by 15 ft and 5.5 deep. I will be stuccoing the concrete wall in white finish. So it will look fresh. I am not planning to do the deck bc then I would have to do my patio and that would just be way too much.

Nice! It is a good lap size pool!

I could do some laps in that pool! Nice!

I am considering silver travertine for my coping

Ok. That idea lasted a few hours. I am thinking I will stick to brick. I don’t like how the pale colors wash out.

Gotta say it could be the "after" photo -- I really like it. If that were at our Palm Springs rental, I'd be thrilled! It looks great.

Then again, we had a neighbor with a gunite pool (cold part of the East Coast) so, to my eye, yours is missing a lot of big cracks in the concrete.

I like in those inspo pics how the coping and walking areas are all the same material. Looks very modern and cohesive.

We are getting ready to have a pool built.

However, it is very different than what you have!

The brick is a little dated to me, but still nice. It's ultimately classic.

Do you want it to be more modern? You could do dark grey or light, or more bright white grey. I think white tile would be too bright in the sun. One photo has brick with other tile surfaces. That may help you.

If so, here are some visuals.

Ty!!
I have to admit that I was looking forward to a new Material for coping, thinking that brick is dated. My contractor has suggested cement coping bc it is the modern coping but I have come to associate it with the 1970’s pools. Apparently the modern look is to have a flush pool but to me, it translates to a “hole in the ground.” Sigh.

My other dilemma is that I have no intention of swapping out the deck bc it is attached to a patio and omg…huge, expensive and chaos to redo it. But as you can see, my deck has brick built in. Ughh.

I have a pool and I don't like the style or size at all. I know. First world problems. It came with our house and it is small. I'm not sure why they made such a small pool when there was room to build a bigger one.
I love the size of your pool. Can the cement/coping be painted. Do you need new coping or do you just want to change it for a different look.
If the coping can be painted maybe a dark to medium grey?
There is also cement refacing. I will have to find photos for you.

Here is my pool. I'm not a fan of it and have only been in it four or five times since we first moved here. If I could change it I would do a gray coping and make it larger. I don't like going into the water in general bc I have a fear of drowning lol But my husband and kids enjoy it IMG_3346.pngIMG_3348.pngIMG_3353.pngIMG_3349.png

It's funny. We are going to be doing a Roman style similar to yours, that is 16 x 32 in the rectangle with 6 foot half rounds at each end. I like how classic it is. I think your pool is really nice! This is our render. Decking is not shown.

Your pool is huge!! What’s not to love??!!!

We love our pool area - we have a large pool house on the left of this photo which means we never have to go back inside our house for anything, we can park our butts out there for the whole day.

Here in Australia, every pool has to be fully surrounded by fencing so it’s always amazing to see American pools out in the wide open.

Ours is surrounded by concrete pavers and fake turf down by the beach entry area.

I think our pool is smaller than your model tbh. I think they said it's 27x 16 or 15. We don't have exact specs but we had a larger pool in our old house (20x40 Grecian with diving board) so I think it has skewed my
perception of size. I do like the shape of the pool and there is this cool shark painted on the bottom. If I could build my dream pool it would do an L shape pool. A shallow end and a lap end.

I'm pretty sure in America we have the same fence around the pool rule. I've never seen a pool without a fence here.
I was so crazy when we lived in our other house we had a fence around our property but I still installed another safety net fence around the pool as well.

Really? Not in So Cal. At least that is how I bought my home over 24 years ago and none of my contractors are mentioning to me that they are required by code. I see a lot more pools without a gate.

Oh. That's so interesting. I live in the East Coast and all the states I lived in required it. I always thought it was a law. Maybe it's a state by state or individual county thing.
I've lived in NY, NJ and De.

The fence is required by law in CT but I see a lot of pools lacking one, and it doesn't seem to be enforced.
(We do not have a pool.)

I love the look of travertine and apparently it stays cool underfoot. However, friends with travertine have had horrible issues with it. It moves and heaves up periodically. Apologies if I’m not explaining that well. But parts of it will pop up and become a tripping issue.

We don’t have a pool but I love the idea of a tanning ledge to just sit in a bit of water and read. And the shape of yours is great! For some reason my eye likes straight lines on pools rather than curves.
