Hello
I couldn’t find a thread dedicated to brooches so thought I would start one with a recent acquisition of mine.

I saw this brooch on instagram and loved the flow of it. It’s organic almost, with a hint of movement that I love. I cannot capture its sparkle or charm well in photos but it really is a lovely piece.

I am so excited to get to add this! I got it in March for my 15th anniversary. It is a TB Starr platinum brooch with a .5 ct OEC and the rest single cuts. It's such a BLINGY little thing!

I found it at Beladora in December and kept going back to it. I realized I would be so disappointed if I ever went and it wasn't there!

I also have a Wedgwood cameo brooch that I adore because it is the only one I found with a woman and a dog!

Oh my goodness! Thank you SO MUCH @stracci2000 for posting this! I knew nothing about it. It was a pre-Pricescope eBay find that I just "felt."

Having the story to go with it makes it so meaningful!

Yes! The classical figures on Wedgwood Jasperware are usually from Greek mythology. But yours is from literature! How exciting!

Hi Daisy!
The three birds are Victorian swallows, with enamel on sterling.
I found them in the Antique mall.
The 14k maple leaf was also from the antique mall. I only paid a few dollars for each of them. The gold mark was so tiny on the leaf, no wonder it was overlooked by the seller.

You guys are going to be sorry you asked, lol. I can clutter up this thread like no other! I guess I'll start with my very favorite. He's a very dapper young man from Turkey wearing his opals, diamonds and rubies. He deserves a solo shot, lol.

These are my three oldest brooches. The horseshoe is from 1890 and originally sold at auction in 2010 in Bristol, England and made its way over to FL. I was able to track down the auction listing. I know it's the same piece because of positioning of the wonky omcs. The second one is an Edwardian piece, all OECs and calibre cut onyx. Now the bottom one has the story. I got a call from my jeweler one day when we were in FL. She told me she had this gorgeous old brooch that I just had to buy and she was flying down in the next couple days. When she gets here she pulls out the bottom brooch and she had me right there. OECs, Old cut marquise and Tsavorites, what's not to love? But then she tells me the story. She had a woman come into her store that wanted her to take the diamonds out of this brooch and make two eternity rings out of it because she was never going to wear it as a brooch. Inside my jeweler is screaming NOOOOOOOOO! She asked her where she got it from and she says she inherited it from her mother who never wore it. Her mother inherited it from her mother who only wore it once a year at Christmas. It was her special Christmas brooch. It looked almost brand new when the granddaughter brought it into the store. Can you imagine how fancy the grandmother must have felt every Christmas? My jeweler made the granddaughter a deal that she would make her two eternity bands with modern diamonds if she would let her have this piece. She knew I would buy it, lol. And so the Christmas brooch has a new life and gets worn way more often than just on Christmas day.

Thank you so much! You have some of my favorite pieces on Pricescope!

I love all of your brooches. I think the Christmas Brooch is my favorite and I'm so glad you and your jeweler were able to save it!

Aww thank you! Ha, my jeweler knew I wasn't going to let it get away or be dismantled.

the art deco opal in the bottom left is STUNNING, who made that one if you can recall?

Thank you! That one was made by my jeweler, the one that brought me the Christmas pin. She is strictly a custom jeweler and is based in Northern IL.
