A lovely aqua ring!

Thank you! I love Barry's work and have a few rounds and supernovas. But this one was always special to me because not only is it my birthstone but not one of his usual cuts. I recall him saying that this was one of his favorite styles as he tried for years pouring through websites and lapidary journals looking for instructions. He finally decided to design it himself and spent months to get the angles right. His work is really amazing.

I was bummed to miss the one MrsKMB grabbed (but happy it went to a PSer) as nice pieces can be hard to find and pricey. I was able to snag the one posted last week. Also picked up the sunstone cab and Barry surprised me with a pair...I love these. Last, I finally set my Barry aquamarine.

Those cabs of sunstone are really cool. I love the Schiller on them! That sugilite is very fine. Mine is a honker in a pendant that is so big it hurts to wear, but the quality and color are not near what you bought from Barry. Mine was expensive, but for fun jewelry. Yours would look fabulous set in gold. It deserves to be spoiled!

It’s a 6.5mm chrysoberyl with a gorgeous rich yellow gold color. It has a slight brown modifier I think but it adds to the warmth. I tweaked the color temperature on a few of the photos to better represent the actual color of the gem. It’s an overcast rainy day & I used my iPhone for the mediocre pics. The gem is a little sunball!

Because they kept getting pushed down on the project list, I decided to have some of my cabs from Barry wirewrapped in GF wire.

I have had this spinel cut by Barry for a while now and just had it set in this mount from Aurosi Jewels. I had purchased the setting for another stone that ended up not fitting quite right, and as luck would have it this spinel fit perfectly! Barry described the stone as medium lilac color, mined in Mahenge.

I tried to capture the blue flashes I see in person, but the skies are so gloomy here today that this is the best I could do. I have really grown to appreciate the dispersion that can be seen in some spinels. It’s like an expected surprise :))

LOVELY stone and setting! It looks mauve to me, a pinkish purple. Do you have more photos in other lighting?

Thank you @Stone Hunter ! It definitely can look mauve, and it did when it was unset, but now that it’s set it mostly looks a lovely purple in person. It actually surprised me that it looked so purple when I picked it up from being set and the jeweler commented that it matched the purple top I was wearing.
The sun popped out for a brief second and I took a couple of pictures of it, along with a Mahenge Garnet and a Peridot, also both cut by Barry that I realized I haven’t added this thread yet. I may have a few..or more than a few , loose stones cut by Barry that I should add here sometime.

VERY nice!! I like both the color and the setting variety that you've done with Barry's stones.

Finally I can contribute to this thread. I got this Tanzanian Rhodolite garnet from Barry last year. Per Barry, it has an R.I. of 1.76 and its reaction to the Chelsea filter indicates chromium content. The setting was bought pre-loved from @bunnycat and it fits very well.

So excited to see it in action. I do think this setting is perfect for a lovely colored stone! The garnet color contrasts beautifully with the platinum.

Sniffle. I went to acstones to see if he had any moonstones and the site is closed due to family health conditions. I’ve had so many years of buying beautiful things from him and sharing friendly emails. I really hope everything is ok for him and his family.

This was my latest project using gems I got from him. Moonstone and a large garnet supernova. The first gem I got from him was also a supernova garnet.

Gosh, I love looking at the gorgeous stones in this thread. There are so many beautifully cut gems from Barry. Hopefully others have stones they would like to add here as well.
When I started collecting CS, I bought mostly from Barry for several years. I‘ll start with these three stones and will come back with the others when I‘m able to take better picture.

8.5mm Congo Amethyst (there is no window, it’s just my camera angle).
55C10A44-6AA6-491E-A81C-959094547441.jpeg

7.6mm Mozambique Aquamarine
CE4FB002-188D-41FA-885D-CF1703B7507C.jpeg

9.4x8.1mm Supernova Rwandan Amethyst. I wasn’t able to take a good picture of this stone, so this is Barry’s photo. Who knew amethyst would be so hard to photograph...

A group photo of all three stones

I’m bumping this thread to add my cushion Peridot cut by Barry in a 14K white gold and enamel setting by Holly Hague Design.
I thought the fall color scheme was a perfect nod to Barry‘s love of talking about the weather. Gosh I miss him!
I rarely delete emails and I was able to find Barry’s email telling me about this peridot when I bought it back in 2014, so I thought I’d share:
“The Arizona peridot comes from the San Carlos Apache Reservation.
Peridot Mesa is off limits to anyone who’s not a tribal member and I’ve only know of one instance where some idiots drove right in and started stealing peridots. It cost them $1500 apiece and they didn’t get their truck back. They’re lucky they didn’t lose more than that! “

D9A6A882-D373-467A-84AB-5F049281A383.jpeg Does anyone else have any pieces or stones from Barry to add to this thread? I think this is the most complete Barry B thread with pictures on PS.
