Hello. I have a 1ct gorgeous transition/OEC warm, buttery Diamond (maybe an M in color) acquired from eBay that I love but it’s in an old dated pinkie ring setting. I am looking for ideas for a right hand ring in yellow gold that doesn’t look like an engagement ring solitaire. I definitely want to play up the warmth and have thought about a 3-stone ring but I’m not sure if I would like contrasting white side stones.

I would love to see your settings that might give me some ideas. It doesn’t have to be a 3-stone. I’m not sure I want a halo or a bezel but I love claw prongs.

I would love to see your ideas. Thanks! C9ABEF43-5F40-49DB-B0C4-1614B59BEBD6.jpeg 40FCB6EC-21EF-47EC-AFB2-0B6F0109BD1D.jpeg 9BCF9C16-BAB5-47C3-A213-13AD787A9867.jpeg

Wow beautiful diamond and a great Ebay find! I actually have a warm OMC that I had reset with an 18k yellow bezel to play up the color:

There is a lot you can do with this diamond but I immediately thought of a belcher type setting because they are so versatile:

I have this five stone yellow gold right hand ring, maybe something like this with your stone in the center? This originally had a green emerald center but i replaced it with my grandmother's diamond. I was like you, I wanted to be able to wear my grandma's diamond but i wanted a ring that didnt look like an engagement ring, which is a tough thing to do with a diamond! IMG_3896.jpg

this was it before i switched it for the diamond. I feel like your new diamond would look pretty with 2 white diamonds to really show it's pretty color!

I have an R colored AVR in a rose gold setting by Love Affair Diamonds that now serves as a right hand right. I love how the rose gold plays up the warmth of the diamond.
good luck on your project!

Here is a 2.31 Q-VVS2 CBI in a 18ky and platinum mounting aka "Queen Pari".

I have this one saved already from a while ago! It’s one of my favorite rings.

N color in yellow gold setting. I’m actually kind of disappointed it isn’t more warm looking in the yellow gold. It faces up whiter than I’d like. Was hoping for a more champagne-y look. In some lights though it’s very “gold” 9A817079-8125-4D07-B7C3-D70716F8C3A5.png

I love it. I wish my fingers were long and slender like yours instead of short and stubby like mine. ☺️

I’m still trying to figure out what to do with this warm Diamond and I’m considering a 3-stone ring. I have several smaller vintage diamonds from old jewelry that could be used as side stones but they are definitely whiter (not graded).

The warm center is about 1ct and this other ring in this photo has approx 0.6ct or so sides. Would that be too big and if so what’s a good target ratio? Will it look bad to have whiter side stones? This would all be in yellow gold. I would prefer to use ones I already have but only if it looks ok in the end.

Again, trying to avoid this looking like an engagement ring. Thanks!

can you get a photo of the ebay stone next to one of the side stones in ring posted above so we can get an idea of the color difference?

Good idea. Here are some photos indoors in natural lighting so hopefully you can see the difference in color between the larger and smaller.

The larger one often comes across to me as a nice soft, pleasing vanilla color. It was sold to me as an approximate O,P,Q but not sure.

Diamond with the brooch and the brooch with the garnet ring. It kind of looks like the garnet diamonds might not be quite as white as the brooch but it’s hard to tell and it could be the setting.

Opinions? Thanks!

This is one of the most classically stunning diamond rings I've ever seen. Wow...

Not quite what I had in mind but thanks. It’s going to be a right hand ring and I’m not a huge fan of solitaires, partly because I don’t have a solitaire engagement ring so I don’t want this to look like that. I’m thinking a 3-stone ring or a halo but that’s where the side stones color question comes in…complicated!

so are you thinking of pulling stones from the brooch to use as sides? If it were me, and I wasn't matching sides color to the color of the center, I'd use the whitest option so it looked like it was purposeful and not just a bad match. So if the brooch stones are whiter (and I gather smaller) I'd use them. But that's personal taste.

Are you against a solitaire just because you aren’t engaged? If you like that look I say go for it. I’m not engaged and I wear a solitaire lol. Beautiful diamond! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

Yes I was thinking of using them since they are smaller. What you said makes sense. I also just came up with the idea of using sapphires instead but then I’m more limited in what I wear with it. I might prefer pink or purple sapphires but blue probably goes best with a yellowish stone.

I have been married for over 25 years and when we got engaged I didn’t want a normal solitaire so I got a Diamond and gold handmade band. I think I was being rebellious. I have since replaced that with a 5 stone Diamond ring. I’m also just not a fan of the look of a solitaire for some reason. Finger coverage maybe? Not sure.

I was complimenting her ring, it wasn't a suggestion of style but me marveling at it. I hope you find a setting style that suits you & your taste.

I realized that afterwards. Somehow I missed that earlier post in the thread. It’s a neat design.

I know you said you wanted a YG ring, but I think if you did something like the above, using a YG around the warmer middle and then WG to set the side diamonds from the brooch, it would play up the color of the center and again, look purposeful. Maybe look around at some mixed metal rings and see what you think of that idea?

Yes this is definitely a good idea. I pretty much only wear yellow gold but I need to consider this option for sure to highlight this stone. Thanks.

Here are a few where the warmer center is set in YG while the whiter sides are set in white metal, just so you can get an idea if it is something you might like.
