You can define what a song costs :mrgreen2:

This is my pretty little band I picked up on sale at B2C jewels for about $200.

It’s I/j color and si2 I believe. Sparkles like you wouldn’t believe. It brings me so much joy.

Does free count? (As in buy Lucy, get Ricky for free.)

:love::love: Yes, free is the cost of a song! I do believe anyway... I sure wish DH’s grandpa was here to confirm that.

Lovely band! Thanks for showing it off. Any stats on it?

Unfortunately no stats. It lived a former life as a diamond accented watch band, so it is flexible at each square and there are diamonds all around. The jeweler who sold me Lucy created Ricky (and a few others like him). He was kind enough to add him to the deal for me without me even asking. (He knew I was admiring Ricky but had my eye on Lucy.)

What are the stories behind them?

The DBTY was an unexpected find on Old World Diamond's Instagram account. Adam asked me not to share the price, but it's still in his Instagram post.

The crescent was converted from a pin I found on Etsy for $1,280, and it cost an additional $978 to turn it into the necklace, a ring, and two pairs of stud earrings. Pics of the whole suite are here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/victorian-brooch-conversion-project.241247/

This is next on my wish list!! I’ve been trying to find one with sapphires and diamonds and assumed I’d have to have it made. How awesome that you were able to find one!

I'll let you know if I see one! They pop up from time to time. There's a ruby version on eBay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fine-Antiq...087830?hash=item214821af16:g:qtsAAOSwr9VZxH9z

what I actually got in the mail:

COMPLETELY. BLOWN. AWAY. best $280 I've spent! sooo pleased holy crap! I bid mainly because I loved the unique design of the half yellow/half white gold, was really unsure about the quality of the diamonds since there's no mention other than an estimated tcw of 0.25. But it's really white and lively, holds its own against my Tiffany solitaire!

qs4k5jj.png

It's currently too big for my ring finger, but has a happy home on my index where it may stay. :kiss2: I just think it'd be a pity to resize because the current division of yellow and white gold is perfectly 50/50, and the craftsmanship is real nice.

...also, resizing quote was the same price as the ring.

Another thing we have in common Sharon.::)

Loving all the steals and deals PSers have obtained. Sweet.

Oh wait I did get a deal on a piece of bling but now cannot remember the price...I got this on eBay. Darn how much was it? Maybe $600? It's my best guess so don't quote me.

My vintage platinum engraved band that I purchased from eBay in February 2013. @Demelza bought it first and sent it back because it didn't work well with her ring. I saw it (not knowing she had bought it right before me) and got it and loved it. I loved that it went from one PSer (albeit quickly) to another.

platinumband.jpg

I think I got a sweet deal on it but cannot remember the details though I want to say about $600.
So not on the caliber of some of the deals you guys got...

Sparkles like you wouldn’t believe. It brings me so much joy.

Yay, so pleased for you. That is what makes a deal a deal. When you are getting something you want and will wear and love and enjoy.

Yes it counts. Beautiful band. Sweet deal.

My passion is bargains. I love the hunt.

Yes, I agree. IMO The fun is in the search and getting a deal for just what you are looking for is that much sweeter.

@missy aww that last gif, that man made HIMYM.

That's a really cool structure to the band, and the little designs are perfect! Not busy but with presence.

Do you guys feel the urge to find out more about your second hand items? I'm trying to figure out the maker's mark on mine now haha, guess I'll start a separate thread for that! I'm always sooo curious when I'm not the first owner of something. Like, what happened? Why did they sell it? Did they look at it in awe once as I am now? etc etc

Totally agree. He did. Though I enjoyed the whole cast. Talented people.

I love to find out about the history of my pieces and sometimes I get the opportunity to learn more. As with Bubbalah because Grace had some info on one of her original owners. That she wore and loved Bubbalah for over 60 plus years. But that is the extent of what I know. I do know I have a good feeling about this OEC and the setting she is currently in knowing that she was loved and cherished all those years. And that is enough for me to know. I also know the owner right before me had her for less than 2 years and barely wore her as she wore/wears larger and more pricey bling. So win win for me because I got the OEC I was meant to have but foolishly passed on 2 years ago. Bubbalah came back to me. I am happy with that info.:appl:

I did not know anything about Bea when I bought her however. But she did make me happy and gave me the warm fuzzies. Of course it has more to do with the sentiment behind the giving and the person (my dh) doing the giving but Bea had happy vibes just like Bubbalah. I am an intuitive person and just feeling happy when touching a piece is all I need to know if that makes sense. Good karma pieces both of them IMO.

And along the same vein I have bought a couple of preloved pieces from PSers and knowing the PSers I am buying from also adds to the experience of obtaining the pieces. I only have bought from lovely people here and all of them have been good experiences.

HAHA ok so I’m totally sleep-deprived but I thought that meant that “what you actually got in the mail” was a band AND a solitaire! LOL

Looks good though :)

I bought this garnet ring set in sterling silver on a consignment app I frequent for 15 dollars. The first pic is the one she posted. The others are mine. I love it. Screenshot_20181006-092901_Poshmark.jpg 20181006_092944.jpg 20181006_093047.jpg

Probably not bought for a "song" nor my best bargain, given it was over 20 years ago, but I love telling this story whenever someone compliments this ring:

Long before I could afford fine jewelry, my mom and her friends started taking me to Intergem. I would mostly wander around killing time at the less expensive counters while they shopped. At one show, I spotted this ring and for some reason, it just caught my eye and spoke to me. I couldn't resist trying it on "for fun". Seeing this, my mom comes over and immediately asks "how much?". $1300. She says "too much", the vendor says he will sell it for $1100. She continues to negotiate as I stand by totally embarrassed. When he refuses to go lower than $950 and she refuses to go higher than $600, we walk away. I'm shaking my head, telling her she's crazy since I wasn't going to buy the ring and what would've happened if he really did take her offer. Her answer was "You would buy it because it's pretty and a deal". Anyway, at the end of the show, she says "Let's go back, sometimes these dealers need the cash if they didn't do well". We run over, and as the lights blink on/for for folks to leave, she offers $600 and shows him the cash. He takes it and that is how I ended up with one of my go to pieces.

IMG_20181006_114953.jpg

Regardless of whether it was truly a bargain (I have no stats other than it's 18K), it ended up being worth every penny. Most of my jewelry goes in/out of favor with time but this piece has stood the test of time and one I have worn regularly over the years (in fact, have it on today).
