My husband is making these for people for Christmas. They're chopping boards or cheese boards and they're incredibly beautiful! The wood isn't cheap and they're work intensive, but they're so lovely!

In previous Christmases in Australia, I've tended to make hampers for people of all home-made foods. A few years ago I knitted everyone cashmere scarves. I've done small herb gardens, pot pourri, plants and so on, and in general like to give home made gifts. But this year Tim is a step ahead of me and is making these beauties, and is planning to do drink coasters as well.

But luckily, I got the first one - yaaaaaaay!

So - show me something cool/beautiful/clever/natty you've made. Craft, cooking gifts, preserves, sewing - anything you or your significant other has created.

And in the meantime, I'll be getting maximum enjoyment from this beautiful gift from my dear husband!

ETA I should also mention - he's making me a park bench for my garden for Christmas. I want to be able to sit in my front garden and enjoy the trees, so he's making me one and painting it fire-engine red! It will be a lovely focal point in the yard against all the deep green.

They’re beautiful! What wonderful gifts and a very talented husband.=)2 Although your list of past creativity sounds great too.
I’ve been doing lots of painting with Oils or Acrylics, purely for my pleasure. Although two separate friends have asked for one, which they’ll receive when it’s possible.

I'm a knitter. I made this sweater a year ago (not my most recent finished object but it's what I have on my phone) 20190504_161627_medium2.jpg

Well done!

Now - got anything crafty to share? You strike me as...a gardener? Ever done pot plants for yourself or as gifts?

I’m not very crafty, or artsy, but I do love to make huge spreads of food for the holidays...it is never potluck, I take on the whole thing! 607F4159-4BA8-4710-B783-A189DAC738A8.jpeg ED87AB22-8D6D-4F98-8FB0-C0AC3B623921.jpeg

My husband in the other hand is very artsy and crafty. He builds remote control vehicles and enters them in competitions, he creates beautiful personal gifts with his 3D printer, like the light box he made for me for Valentine’s Day.

That food...!! I love to cook, and normally do celebratory dinners by myself also. But the older I get, the more I appreciate people like YOU, who say "No - don't bother bringing anything - just bring yourself!" I just love the joy, love, and enthusiasm - to say nothing of oceans of hard work! - that go into a meal like the ones you've shared!

And your husband is obviously very talented! Do you have any more photos of the light box? It's lovely!

I want to learn to do embroidery - cross stitch and otherwise.

Does anyone know of any good online teaching courses for absolute beginners? And I mean 'know NOTHING beginners'.

@mrs-b I also decided that I wanted to learn embroidery this year. I purchased a kit from RosannaDiggs on etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/RosannaDiggs) - I bought a complete kit because it was in the middle of the quarantine and I didn't think I'd be able to get supplies on my own. I'm still slowly working on mine and it's been a great way to learn. On occasion I needed to "see" a stitch and I just searched for a YouTube video. Very do-able IMO.

Yes, I DO garden! How spooky that you would know that! I have a billion pot plants around the garden that i have nurtured for years & inside i keep Orchids & other plants. Actually, we have given plants as gifts now i think about it. We have a large Spider Plant in the bathroom which has babies regularly. There are several around the house & the girls have one each in their bedrooms. So when any of them throw out a baby, we pot it using an opened paperclip until it roots, then snip it off from the mummy plant & give it away. ALL my family have grandchildren of Spiddy, the original in the bathroom!

ETA. It's very wet & quite dark here now, so no pictures from the garden to show you.

I have zero talents. But my DH is very creative. He does woodworking and builds and creates some gorgeous pieces. He also sews (I benefit greatly from this) and cooks and bakes (very grateful for all his skills) and there is almost nothing he cannot do.

I shared some of his furniture making abilities on PS before. Here are a few pics.

He built this outdoor table and benches from Epay wood. He also built another two seater chair for the other head of the table not pictured.

He built this stone BBQ.

He made (sewed) an SPF canopy for me on our bike. As well as the cat flags and other flags.

This was his first major project. Our SG medicine cabinet at our first beach house.

He built the bookshelves for our home library room.

He has built many many more projects. These are just a few.
