Now despite what the main street family jeweller tried to tell me i know diamonds are set in sterling, the mall jeweller across the street does it (they tend to cater for all price points)
i'm looking for inspiration as im beginning to see the end of my ban on new projects come to an end

every week i edge ever nearer to the bottom of the repairing, lengthening and reworking pile

The price of gold is still sky high but as apart from my inherited 18k pieces i only have my jewellery for myself, i'm looking to have a bit of fun at a more affordable (aka silver) price and im thinking about buying some small lab/ or some melee diamonds soon -(nothing too fantastic ;)2)

So please show me your lovely silver pieces set with diamonds (if it is allowed in this sub forum ? Moissanite and CZ welcome)

We have a local jeweler that works with silver and diamond melee. Very sculptural. I can’t show pictures, but it looks great.

I don't have any pictures, but rhodium-plated silver looks very similar to white gold; and I've seen jewellers carry it here! Usually you won't see people setting solitaires in silver, but melee or small stones is relatively common.

I just googled it and there's a relatively well known jeweller who even retails online: https://www.pcjeweller.com/silver-diamond-jewellery

I have several pieces, a SS locket with small diamonds and 5 rings, each have 1ctw of colored diamonds (2 red, 2 blue and 1 green). They are all rhodium plated IIRC. (Sorry not the best photo lighting indoors here)20240415_133648.jpg 20240415_134314.jpg

I think you need to be extra careful with diamonds in rings though. I lost 2 red diamonds and had to get them replaced. DH and I had a little too much fun one night listening to live music at a pub and I knocked out 2 stones :eek2::eek2: Was horrified when I saw the damage the next day, but was able to get them replaced by jeweler without much trouble thankfully.

HI:

If you want to browse online David Yurman is known for silver and diamond pieces.

cheers--Sharon

Thank you again for this diamond, @Wink!

You are so welcome. I will always remember you were the first to welcome me to Pricescope when I came over from the Diamond Talk Forum.

I never think of your hands when I look at your rings, I only see the gems and the silver...

I love Argentium silver. It wears more like white gold than silver. Stays shiny,
Beautiful ring, @glitterata.

I saw this video in another thread. Mary Tyler Moore had a wonderful diamod necklace in silver.

Around 5:20 in the video.

Amazing that a necklace with a provenance like that was auctioned off in 2023 for $35,000! 32 carats of old cut diamonds, in what looks like a vintage sterling setting. How sad that the auction house didn't target the right buyers.

That diamond necklace was stunning, I'd have snapped it up in a second!! Was also really shocked that it sold for so low!

It’s kind of sad for me, looking at all those photos of MTM wearing the necklace as if she really enjoyed it. Then it sells as if the auction wasn’t publicized at all.

Oh I felt sad too! Was sad to see her precious treasures up for auction to strangers. I hope it found a good home with someone who loves and wears it as well as she did, she rocked that beauty! Makes ya think about where your own precious pieces may go someday. If don't have anyone to leave mine to, I'm thinking have the estate sell them and donate proceeds to an animal rescue. Helping animals would give me peace and happiness to put my collection to good use after me.

@glitterata, where did you get this setting?? I have a purpleish garnet, and I think argentium silver would be really cool!

My setting was made many years ago by a wonderful jeweler, Julia Taylor, who seems to have vanished completely. I hope she's okay and just decided to stop making jewelry. I couldn't find any sign of her when I went looking online about 5 years ago.

Since then, Daniel M. has made some settings for me in argentium silver, but he can be very frustrating to deal with.

I hope others will recommend other jewelers who work in argentium silver.

Got a few new additions to my diamonds in SS. I was looking for a travel wedding band (or two haha) and I stumbled across these half carat LG diamond bands set in SS on JTV. They're from a line of LGDs on JTV called Prazana. Each was about $135 and I had coupons so I only paid about $100 for each! I figured WTH, low risk I could send them back if I didn't like them. Well, great news, I LOVE these bands! They're bright white, super firey and all matched well together. The metal in the bands is also substantial, I like thicker bands, I'm just not a fan of that super skinny micro look.

So I got two in SS with rhodium plating, (only one is shown in the photo tho, I put the other away as back up). And the second one is gold vermeil. I know vermeil wears off, but I decided just wear it out bc I probably want my local jeweler to reset these rings in gold and or platinum anyway down the line. I think the vermeil is well done, it's a little warmer than 14kt, but not brassy, and to my eyes looks more like 18kt so that's AOK.

The spacer in the middle is a cute little 1.5mm GF bead ring from BeaucoupdeBeads on Etsy. The shop owner, Judi, makes the prettiest pieces. She packages them in the nicest little gift bags and always sends lovely notes. I get GF as testers for the right size and look for whatever spacers I need. But she also sells gold pieces so I may go back for more when ready to spring for gold. Interesting that DH saw that little bead ring on my finger between the diamonds and he goes, hey that's a pretty little ring! I get so much bling he hardly notices anymore but he noticed this one which was so nice.

For reference I wear 4.75 but these are all standard size 5, so they're a little loose but that's good for stacking, especially in summer!20240626_121736_resized.jpg
