Should I look at round or oval settings for my roval?

Hi! I have purchased a blue sapphire that I am soooo excited about. I want to set it in a ring (a solitaire), and I need to go with something "off the shelf" since I''m on a tight budget. I actually want a Stuller setting -- either the octet or tulip head and the knife-edge shank.

But I still want to look around online before committing...

Here''s my question -- my stone is a roval. The measurements are 6.3 x 6.9 x 3.5, and it weighs 1.29 carats. Should I be looking at round settings or oval settings?

I would think oval, or possibly custom. Best to ask the jeweler you are working with.

It might be able to work in either, but best to ask your jeweler about this. I don''t think we can answer this question unfortunately.

Thanks Ellen and kcoursolle! I spoke with the person I bought the gem from (who is also a goldsmith) today, and he said he thought a 7mm round may work best, as long as it''s a prong setting. I am totally envisioning putting it in a Stuller setting with an octet head... Or something similar. I really want that double prong look!
