That's not the actual H&A photo of the stone.

Do you mean the photo used on the report is false? A generic image?
I used the IDEALSCOPE and it matched.

Stick with GIA or AGS graded stones.

OKaaaaay.....so I just called EGL USA and spoke with a rep who told me that the H&A image used is NOT the diamond on the cert, but is indeed a generic photo. I said I was not pleased to find this out, as it misrepresents the stone and IMPLIES the diamond is in the picture. I suggested they may want to rethink their policy.
Thank you for the heads up. And yes, I've known for years that EGL is not a preferred lab ( putting it nicely here). However, I liked the diamond, so I made an exception. All my other rocks are GIA, and my colored gemstones are AGL certified.
    Caveat emptor, as they say.
Doesn't change the fact that the diamond is gorgeous.
But, brings up another question...do you prefer AGL or AGS or even GIA for color gemstones?

Despite people telling you this is a bad stone (for good reason), you keep coming back to this statement. You are even willing to overlook a subpar lab report for it.

So what's the final verdict -- you buying or not?

There are lots of options on the table. Thanks for all the input, the advice is well taken.

There has been alot of good advice given about the diamond in question. It is clearly poorly cut regardless of how beautiful it is or what lab report it has. The OP has to decide whether to move on to something more precisely cut.

My first and only experience with EGL.
There's a legal term for this, it's called misrepresentation. If I were in the mood, which I am NOT at present, I would consider the parameters of a class action lawsuit.

Thank you for getting to the bottom of this. Crazy that EGL is getting away with this thanks to DF for pointing it out... Can you post a photo of the 2.5 diamond or an Idealscope? I’d love to see it.

Tsk tsk @tigertales. Avatars are only 100x100. A much bigger pic is required, lol
