Like a 0 cut A where the number must be all in a tight range from max to min. Pav angles, crown angles, diameter, etc...all should be within certain percentage or degree from the min and max. This way the cutters must put in extra effort to receive a 0 cut A grade.
All the other stones would be called 0 cut B as long as they are in the ideal cut proportion.

It would be interesting if they did that.
They are working on a new cut rating system it will be interesting if they include something like this.
GIA it doesnt sound likely that they will but ags just might.
I think they will want to stay one step ahead of GIA to stay a premium cert.

How about this:

Step #1: - take X quality brackets
Step #2: but wait! there is a difference between item a and itm B in the first clas!!! Split it...so X+1 quality brackets result
Step #3; Repreat step #!

Where does this Stop? Of course, it might stop when one quality class has been set for each stone that gtes cut... Does this make sense?

Obviously, the top, not the mid or bottom of the scae are more prone to this pigeonjoling, 'cause more money and desire are involved and there is the spot where the observers look in the hope to encounter 'the best' anyway.

Already those VVS grades are serious hairsplitting (two the point that more thna one person has to confirm them before written on acert). Also, D got somehow twice closer to E than G is to H... and so forth.

One can only hope that cut does not go the same route, but the hope would be foooolish.
