I am having my Ering/WR remade and and the designer REALLY wanted to set my rectangular stone East/West in the new setting. My feeling is that setting the stone that way would make the ring look more like a right hand ring than an Ering. Is that weird??

Do you have a prefference on how a elongated stone "should" be set???

Thanks :D

Nope, depends on what you like best.

yep and if you don'think it would look right set e/w then DON'T let him persuade you to do it.

ditto. if you don't like e/w don't get e/w no matter what your jeweler says-- you're going to be the one wearing it!

I have a 2.10 ct EC set east to west in a half bezel because it is an elongated stone and I love it. Get tons of compliments because it is different.
If you like I will post you a photo a little later. I have not posted photos of the ring here on PS.

Perhaps it depends on the shape of your fingers? I have short stubby hands (really, most 10 year olds have longer fingers) and an EW setting makes that one finger look extra wide. If you had pianist's hands, you could probably carry an EW setting better, and it would have more finger coverage.

I think it depends on the stone and the setting (as well as finger shape/length) and personal preference. Dont let
the guy talk you into something you dont want. I like E/W settings but like I said I would have to have all the details
before I would say yah/nay to it.

My e-ring is an e/w set oval solitaire, doesn't look like a RHR at all. But, if you don't like the idea don't do it, you'll probably regret it.

I agree with the above poster- if you have slender fingers, and e/w ring would look fabulous and unique. One of my many "covets" is an oval set e/w. I think it looks amazing. But if that's not what you want, then I'd say don't do it.

That's it I have the same hand to you do. Little kid hands. I think it would make my stubby finger look wider. I wish I had long elegant fingers then maybe I would consider it.

Thanks EVERYONE for helping me stay strong in what I think will look best on my finger. I hope to have new ring early next week :appl: :appl: YIPEE!!!
