Wow ! Certainly a lot of activity on this site ! After reviewing many posts both positive and negative I felt compelled to explain Shenoa & Co’s offerings, both online and in the store.

Fist, let me say that Shenoa & Co. has been in business for over 25 Years and has thousands of happy and loyal customers. The business is based on giving customers quality merchandise at competitive prices. This formula has worked since the company’s founding, and will continue to do so for generations to come.

In January of 2003 we started selling diamonds online at Shenoa.com and on eBay. We offer different types of merchandise and different pricing structures online and in the store. We have found that different customers with differing needs shop where they are more comfortable based on convenience, price, and quality.

We offer diamonds at all three venues with different types of Diamond Grading Certificates, or none at all. We explain to customers when purchasing in the store or on the phone that they have different options depending on their needs and budgets.

1) Some people are looking for the “Biggest Bang” for the buck. They are not so concerned about the specific grade of the diamond, rather than, they like the size and appearance of the diamond and it fits in their price range. For these consumers an independent Diamond Report might not be necessary, but a store issued appraisal will do.

2) Others are looking for a “Balance of Quality, Size, and Price”. They are an educated comparison shopper and want to use the diamond’s size and grade to help determine the value. They like the item, appreciate its value, and understand that grading is subjective. They want to buy at a discount and understand that that have to compromise somewhere. For these customers we recommend a diamond with a Certificate from one of many smaller independent laboratories such as EGL, IGI, NGL, HRD, or UGL. We agree that all of these labs’ standards might night be as stringent as the GIA, but for the purposes mentioned above, suits most customer’s needs.

3) Finally, some customers are looking for a diamond with exacting specifications that can not vary from lab to lab. They are less concerned with value and budget, and are willing to pay the price to get what they want. For these customers we recommend diamonds with GIA Certificates. The grading system that most people use is the GIA standard, but for the definitive grade, only GIA can make the final judgment; it is their standard.

In summary, we recognize the difference in Certificates and customers needs, and offer a full product line to try and fill those needs. We recommend that each customer evaluate his or her needs, expectations and budget before making a purchase, and ask the sales person as many questions as necessary.
