This is a very interesting topic.
Polished - I'm in Sydney Australia and haven't really had many stones set. I have a great jeweler in Paddington and have made contact with one in Mosman.
Is it feasible to send a loose stone (I bought from Blue Nile and had it shipped to Australia.....last year now I've saved up to have set) to the US have it set and pay sales tax via FedEx on the finished ring? Since I like US designs by VC & SK & LM and Katharine James is it worth getting the perfect setting......it adds 10%.
Do you know of any Sydney pave experts as a cost saving alternative to the beautiful workmanship standard of VC and for around the same cost or am I better paying the premium? I am comfortable working with VC via email and pictures to get the quality.
Just another point. Australians don't know about palladium as a setting metal.
