Hi ya! Hubby got me a stone for Christmas to celebrate a turning point in our lives...the stone is a little over a carat. I already have a smaller stone bought when we got married however it was re-set in platinum tiffany style (knife edge, 6 prong)..now I was thinking is it possible to put the new stone in the old setting? The other stone is .53 oval and this is a little over a carat RB....Do you think they can just replace the head? Also, I have a 5 stone band about .33 + for each stone...do you think that could be made in to a knife edge band? I like things to match and I like fluidity as well as simplicity...pictures would be great! also, I am trying to post but not sure how! thanks Mi.

This thread should help you w/posting pictures. http://www.pricescope.com/forum/faq1/how-to-upload-reduce-pictures-for-posting-t41381.html You need to make sure the pictures are under 100 kb and name it something unique like Skippy1235343.jpg and no strange characters.

I don''t see why you can''t replace the head. Posting pics would help; plus it would be lovely to see your stones

Thanks! I have been trying to take pics and I am just soo not good at it! But anyway, does anyone know how to basically make a stone appear larger? I am just nervous that the band I have will take away from the stone...Also, I like 4 prongs but I hear 6 is better...however, does 6 or 4 matter when it comes to carat size? Will 6 dwarf a 1 ct stone? I love something called a buttercup setting that I saw somwhere on here...but when I try looking it up online I can not find it! Any 4 prong bttercup settings out there????

You can set your stone in 4 or 6 prongs, either is safe. I think the size of the prongs can make a stone appear smaller if they''re too big, whether 6 or 4 prongs.
