First I'd like to thank everyone here for SO much valuable information and knowledge you all have!

We have purchased a stone and received it today. We are in the process of buying a setting from ID jewelry. They told my boyfriend that it's better to purchase the setting and have it set locally instead of sending the loose stone out for them to set. What are people's experiences with buying a stone and having it set somewhere else. Local or set at the company?
