So I did it! My East African garnet deserves a lovely setting. I found a 14k white gold double halo pear setting online. It has the most beautiful under mount of rose gold with diamonds -- almost like a crown under the stone. I will post pictures as soon as I get it because I would love your opinions. You all have good taste! Here is the garnet in two photos -- one in the sun and one in daylight. Do you think a little rose gold accent will pull out the red in the stone?

That stone looks so dark as to make it difficult to see any real color change in it - at least in the shots that you show here.

It may vary from stone to stone but I think rose gold will pull out the blue in the garnet. It sounds like you are planning on using a very enclosed setting which is likely to affect how often you see the colour change and how strong it will be, because you are limiting the amount and strength of light coming into the stone.

I appreciate the feedback. My photos leave a lot to be desired, but it's actually a really pretty stone. It positively glitters with teal and raspberry red in the sun. The setting is actually not that closed as there are straps of rose gold (inset with diamonds) that lift the stone up a little. I noticed piercings under where the stone actually sits, so I think light will come up through well. I will post a picture of the mount as soon as I get it.

It will look gorgeous set. I love my cc garnet ring - it is in 14k yellow gold. Rose will look great, I agree!

I think this will work to show you the actual ring mount. What do you think?

Hello. The way I read your inquiry, you were asking for feedback on the setting, right? You obviously already own and love the blue garnet. They are neat stones aren't they? Going from blue to a purple/red. I think the setting you picked is beautiful. Love the idea of rose gold accents. That will make it distinctive. I also like the idea of a halo of bright white diamonds around the stone. Congrats and wear it in good health. :)
