Hi Everyone,

I have a tendency to fret and obsess about my engagement ring (I know some of you Pricescopers can relate

), so I wanted to get your opinions to ease my mind. I have a .93 carat diamond set in a tiffany style- four prong platinum ring. I will soon be sending my ring in to my jeweller to get one of the prongs fixed (it needs to be rubbed over the table a little bit to stop it from catching on things). So then I started to think that maybe I should have it lowered a bit. I would classify my ring as mid height- it measures 6mm from the top of my finger to the table, 7mm to top of the prongs and there is about 1mm of space between the culet and the bottom of the ring (my diamond is 6.27mm in diameter and 3.88mm deep for reference). Would it make any difference in appearance if I were to ask to have it set .5mm lower, so that I can still see the culet (something I like seeing) or am I being too picky and obsessive

? Would the jeweller laugh at me if I were to ask for this minimal amount of adjustment to the setting? please be honest!!

Hi, I think you''d have to post a side view for anyone to give an opinion.

To be honest with you, I think you are obsessing too much. .5mm lower won''t make any difference. Your setting isn''t very high as it is...mine is 8mm and I don''t consider it to be a high setting at all...medium maybe. I understand the tendancy to want perfection (I went through a time where I convinced myself the prongs weren''t spaced correctly, were too big, etc.), but it sounds like you have a gorgeous ring, so enjoy it! :)

Thanks for your honesty Facetfire!
I just needed to hear it from someone else and you are correct- I do have a beautiful ring and I will leave it as is! Having it reset lower in the prongs is putting the diamond in danger of getting damaged unnecessarily anyhow...

As per diamond seekers request, here is a profile of my ring...
