I like this diamond from JA - Item #: 1255561
but didn't like any of there setting (looking for one in platinum, pave / 3 stone setting)

I liked the setting from whiteflash, but none of their diamonds

I do kind of like a setting in JA but not my first preference

what should i do know.

My budget was $6000 for the setting with diamond..and i'm willing to stretch it to $8000.
All you experts out there, could you please tell me If I'm chosing the right stone for my budget.

Thanks in Advance.

http://www.beverlyk.com/imageview.cfm?img=images/catalog/zoom/8WR1233A80RDDDM.jpg is the nicest, affordable setting in that style that I know of. It's just stunning. Personally, I'd call Pearlmans Jewelers and get a quote on that ring before I got one of the others in this style. And you can have JA ship your stone to any vendor you want, and they will do it. And that vendor will charge you a setting fee (nominal usually) to set your stone in their setting.

You can also have the setting vendor send the setting to the diamond vendor and have them set it. Usually there isn't a fee if you do that, and the diamond vendor will insure the diamond during the setting process.

Thanks for your reply. Will check with JA about setting from other vendor

That setting in the link is beautiful, do you happen to know the item number for the same??

Could you please share your thoughts on the diamond selected??

I'm so nervous about buying this diamond ring thing..........i have been putting this off for a year now....
so i have decided...its now or never.

so please help me make a decision here.

My friend has the Allegro setting and matching band (they fit perfectly together). They are beautiful and very sparkly although the stones on the bands are small and the shared prongs are visible making it a little metal heavy but when the sun hits it it really sparkles. It's a beautiful shape and looks perfect with her 1 ct stone. (she is a 7.5 ring size).

I see a bit of an issue with wearing a wedding band next to the JA setting.

And that Beverly K setting is very pretty if you like the engraved look. It is delicate yet substantial. Nice choice!

No worries about getting the stone and setting separately. You don't want to compromise either and vendors are used to working that way, you just need to work out the insurance aspect.

It is setting 8WR1233A, Any Beverly K authorized dealer will be able to get it for you, many on PS prefer Pearlmans for Beverly K as their pricing is competitive (mention you are a PSer). I would send them an email, with the link... THEN CALL Pearlmans and they will pull up your email while you are on the phone... and then follow up with an email or a call to you. I have bought from them personally three times and have been pleased each time.

Also, Beverly K makes the settings to order, so if you don't care for the antique engraving you can ask for just high polish metal where there is engraving.

Good luck with your decision. If your diamond is eyeclean (check your definition of eyeclean to make sure it is the same as the vendors, remember clarity is graded face up so inclusions may be visible from the sides on an SI and even a VS2 stone) then I think you've a lovely choice.

Gypsy - thanks for bringing the point about eye clean, i looked the JA diamond again with the magnifying glass, it has too much inclusions - you opened my eyes - so dropped the plan of buying this. my search is on again - but my dead line will be end of this month.

Swingirl - since i hadn't seen the allegro setting in person, it is good to hear from someone who has seen this setting.

currently setting decision is on hold..i will have to find a stone first.

will keep you posted!!

Thanks for your responses.

even if you can see the inclusions with the magnifying glass it may be eye-clean. Remember when you look at it with the magnifying glass it is like SUPER way bigger than it will be in real life. In real life it is only 6.5 mm! Ask the vendor if it is eye-clean to your specs or if you are worried about inclusions, go with higher clarity
